Summary

In 1460 Nepal, a young man troubled by his fiancé's blindness embarks on a journey across China to find the mysterious Great Spirit that has the power to restore her sight. Traveling across the infinite plains of the Gobi Desert, he learns that the Great Spirit is not who he appears to be.

The Son of Nepal is a story of the love between a young man and woman in its utmost form. A story that draws on the ideas of heavenly matchmaking, purpose and the plan of destiny. The book reveals the spirit realm of the Everplanes, where powerful spirits climb to godhood and pull the reins of man through the ages. It is the first book of the series called The Sons of Thunder.

a very intriguing story, short and concise

This is the first book of a new series called "The Sons of Thunder". I will definitely be listening the rest of the series whenever it comes, because I thoroughly enjoyed "The Son of Nepal".
It's an interesting story set in 1460 in Nepal and the Gobi desert. This is a part of the world that I really know nothing about but the narrator made it seem very familiar. The plot is simple enough with Johannan going on a quest to find a cure for his fiancé’s blindness. This, however, is not the best thing about this audiobook. What really stood out, was the author's amazing use of descriptive words and phrases, which led to the conjuring of very vivid and marvelous mental imagery. The ride this book takes your imagination on is, to me, the best part about listening this book.
Johannan is a character that you want to root for as he searches for the Great Spirit.

This was a wonderful book to listen and would appeal most to teens and young adults.

Literally amazed!

Where does The Son of Nepal rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book was definitely one of the best I have listened to. What I liked the most in this books are the descriptions provided by the author. He describes the characters and the scenes so good that you literally feel like you are there, being part of it.
I also liked the emotions which are put in the storyline about Ayushi and Johanann. I loved the romance between them, I was impressed by their story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Johanann. I loved how he was portrayed. He seems to be very attached and committed to people who he loves to the point that he is ready to do everything for them. I think that's impressive and also very lovely.

What does Kamran R. Khan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

According to my opinion, it would be the emotions. I believed that perhaps only by reading this book, I wouldn't be able to feel how much emotions were put in this whole story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Totally! I was amazed by how exciting this book is that I literally couldn't stop listening to it until the end.

Any additional comments?

Each chapter was written with enthusiasm and emotions, the descriptions of the scenes are really detailed, so you can feel the emotion. I enjoyed every second of it!

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main character was my favorite because I really like when the plot is centered around the main character. Also the main character has a great personality and that is what I like the most.

Loved it to the last bit

What did you like most about The Son of Nepal?

I loved the book, because the story was thought provoking and I was trilled about how good it was written. I have always loved fantasy books and this book was everything I had hoped for. What I liked the most was that I could "see" all the scenes that had been described- I could see the green grass, the big rocks, everything- and that is something special that not all writers can do.
What is more, at the beginning I could hear some good jokes, for instance, about how the main character was always chased by his beloved mom. I couldn't help myself laughing all the time.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was the main character, because he is kind, devoted and he is always trying to help his loved one. In my opinion, nowadays we cannot find that kind of a person, but everybody is trying to become like one. I find him admiring and inspiring.

Have you listened to any of Kamran R. Khan’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No, I have not, but I would love to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

To be honest, I listened to it all in one sitting, because I loved it! This book reminds me of a book called "Master and Margarita" as it is written similarly. Both books made me fall in love with the main character.

Any additional comments?

As English is not my mother tongue, a big plus for this book is that it is well written and the English language is not that hard and almost every word is understandable. I can relate that sometimes I struggle with understanding some words, but this is not that kind of a book.
And, in my opinion, for most of the people it will be helpful that "The son of Nepal" is divided into about 30 parts. It is helpful for the ones that are in a hurry and in a day can listen only a few chapters.
And the audio quality is more than perfect. It was a pleasure to my ears to hear how good it has been recorded.

All in all, I would recommend this book, because as I already mentioned, it is thought provoking, perfectly written and personally I loved it.
