About this listen

Young Maisie Gibbs is a conscientious young woman, though life is harder since both her parents passed away. She is relieved when she finds a position as a housemaid in Kensington, under the watchful eyes of the formidable housekeeper, Mrs Carpenter, and she quickly settles in.

When she meets a handsome young soldier, she is tempted to give him his marching orders. But gradually Corporal Daniel Adams starts to win her over.

When tragedy strikes the Fairfax household, Maisie is lucky she has Daniel to rely on - a good sign of things to come?

A delight for fans of the Adams family - the heart-warming story of Daniel and Chinese Lady.

What am I going to read now! I’m so sad to finish this series, from book 1 to 29ive been fully engrossed with the characters, I was addicted from book one, a hard act to follow.

The last in a wonderful compelling series,

All good things come to an end, but I feel I knew the characters. I feel this last book was just the icing on the cake. The whole series was so beautifully written. Also expertly read. I wish I had know what happened to football loving Dumpling, she was hilarious. It really made me think of my own Ancestors & what they went through. Even as I child we lived with Grandparents & had a tin bath & loo in the garden. The history in these books were just superb. Thank you so much for sharing them.

End of a 29 book series!. NO!

Having read and listened to the entire family saga, I wasn't sure I wanted to read this book. It seemed a bit odd to be going back to the beginning. However, I'm so glad I did because it was a perfect way to end the story of the Adams family. The narration was impeccable, bringing the story and characters to life.

A fitting end to the saga.

I went looking for the next book!
So disappointed because I thought there was one more part!
Overall a remarkable literary feat with all these lovable characters - I feel quite a loss - amazing! The performance by Annie Aldington has brought it all to life too!

Just Lovely!
