Summary

The Tantalus Cluster is the fragile cradle of humanity.

Adrift in the divide between galaxies and surrounded by the vast emptiness of the intergalactic void, the Tantalus Cluster is the only home humanity has ever known.

Desperate and facing starvation, humanity’s only hope is a strange nebula that has suddenly appeared beyond the edge of the cluster. Its shifting clouds may hide a source of salvation for the people of Tantalus, but time is running out.

Signing on to the ambitious Avalon Expedition, Privateer Captain Cassandra Farren will face the shadows of both the past and future as she leads her small crew into the unknown in a last, desperate bid for the survival of the human race.

Directed and produced with careful scientific consultation, The Sojourn captures every detail of life aboard ship, from the sounds of the smallest airlock seal to the largest space battle. Featuring a full cast of veteran voice actors, backed up by high-quality sound effects and an epic original soundtrack, The Sojourn is a unique and striking audio experience.

Starring Larissa Thompson as Captain Cassandra Farren, Emily Serdahl as Director Elizabeth Ancelet, Laura Faye Smith as Tamara Melari, Ben Prendergast as Mathias Croft, Stephen Trafford as Inquisitor Castian Vadric, also featuring Matthew Kaufman as Lieutenant Jasper Ravi, and Lelia Symington as Empress Valendra the Sixth. Written by Daniel Orrett, sound design and audio editing by Kennedy Phillips, music by Sam Redfern.

Simply a stellar debut!

I originally backed this project on Kickstarter, and I'm more than thrilled to finally see it here on Audible. As an audio drama and not a "regular" audio book, there is no narration, the entire story is told through dialogue, music and sound effects, and as far as I'm concerned, the performances are top notch. The story has enough twists and turns to keep you guessing while the world-building even in this first volume is out of this world, if you excuse the pun. Daniel Orrett and the entire crew have really delivered a remarkable debut. I can't wait for Volume 2. Fair Winds!

Excellent. Original

A breath of fresh air in sci-fi. If you are thinking the Star Trek/ Star has franchises have grown stale this is for you.
I’m sure this has the potential to grow and grow. It will end up with a tv series like the expanse

Deep and original

Some fiction is wide and shallow, this setting is not huge, but it has depth and that depth matters to the plot and to the characters. There is unfolding backstory to the character that haunts them, a past war that still leaves scars and open wounds.

For the matter of the technology and the setting, I do quite like it. Space travel is harsh, unforgiving and terrifying.

The voices and the sound effects are excellent as well.

All in all, I'd like ten times the three episodes we got thus far.

Exciting

Really like the story and performance, they could have skipped the giving credits inbetween each part tho. and done it once in the end or beginning.

Not that bad but not worth a credit.

Full cast drama with lots of characters but they all sound similar. Made it quite difficult to tell who's who. I was recommended this as a Dune and Wolf 359 ish thing but it is a bit lacking.

Story is straight out of Firefly with space pirates in the aftermath of civil war and interpersonal conflict from that. Then travelling far for food/resources.

I won't spoil it too much but it wasn't particularly gripping or interesting. Might have been ok but I've got enough books to read that I won't be finding this drama's Patreon for regular updates.

Lots of potential

Absolutely brilliant! I listened to this drama knowing a little from spacedock videos, but after listening to it I can't wait for volume 2. I hope one day this could be made into an animated version.
