Summary

Now a major BBC drama: The Strike series.

When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, she just thinks he has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home.

But as Strike investigates, it becomes clear that there is more to Quine's disappearance than his wife realises. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were published it would ruin lives - so there are a lot of people who might want to silence him.

And when Quine is found brutally murdered in bizarre circumstances, it becomes a race against time to understand the motivation of a ruthless killer, a killer unlike any he has encountered before....

A compulsively readable crime novel with twists at every turn, The Silkworm is the second in the highly acclaimed series featuring Cormoran Strike and his determined young assistant Robin Ellacott.

Strike is back

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Silkworm?

Mainly the character development; particularly Robin. Particularly with her driving skills.

What about Robert Glenister’s performance did you like?

All of it; Robert Glenister is an excellent performer and brings all the characters to life superbly.

Any additional comments?

The unlikely adventures of Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott continue in The Slikworm, where the brutal murder of an obnoxious writer falls into their lap. Not only must they conduct their investigation while avoiding the police, but they must address their own partnership, and solve the mystery. Robert Galbraith is an excellent writer!

Great Second Book In The Series

Greatly enjoyed this follow on book from The Cookoo's Calling although you don't need to have necessarily read the first book. Loving the characterisation and the detail in every chapter... now off to read the next book in the Strike series!

Too gripping to leave.

I found I just had to listen to the next chapter, I'll vacuum in a bit. Lucky I could cook eat and wash up while listening.
I loved Robert Glenister's performance , for it was a performance not just a reading. If I read another Strike novel instead of listening I will have the imprinted voices in my head while reading the speech of Strike and Robin.

“Robert Galbraith’s” writing is a highly addictive substance

The writing of these books is nothing but perfection. The Narration by RG is Oscar worthy. I never want these books to end

Brilliant narration

Exellent story, not often a whodunnit keeps me guessing right til the end. The narration in the final confrontation was absolutely chilling!

An outstanding story

An excellent entry in the Strike series, probably my favourite so far. The characters are so interesting, intricate and real I feel like I really do know them. Glenister does a great job bringing it all to life! You will not be disappointed!

Cormoran's back!

Liked the first book, Loved the second one.
I'm surprised at the amount of negativity directed at this book, i thoroughly enjoyed this from start to finish, it really has the "cant put it down" factor. The plot is brilliantly clever and complicated and keeps you guessing till the end and i really liked the story within a story idea. JKR has created a brilliant central character in Strike, i will be reading the next Strike book!

The only negative is the stupid book quotes at the start of every chapter, they were annoying in the first book and even more so in this one. they just seem so irrelevant and unnecessary.
