maybe my fault but I hated the put on voices and accents for different characters. made me feel like I was listening to a bed time children's story

A truly delightful story of Edwardian England.
Rosie Clarke writes beautifully about a poignant time in British history, the story introduces wonderful, lifelike characters, each portrayed, perfectly by the beautiful voice of Juliette Burton…. I really hope that these two ladies will have more storylines ready for us to enjoy! The book is easy listening but also thought provoking as Rosie Clarke brings wonderful characters to life, peppered with historical facts, that have greatly affected all of our lives in the 21st century. I finished this brilliant story wanting to know… what happens next to these brilliant characters… hope I’m not kept waiting too long! Fantastic !

Narration
Whenever Maggie spoke the narrator had an annoying habit of lowering her voice so quiet you had a job to hear her sentences at times

Not For Me
Glad this was a free read/listen. I know its a different era but still feels far fetched and unbelievable. The portrayal of certain characters is annoying and whing-ey. Characters feel lacking and the over use of items sold/for sale just feels like bulking and other areas under-developed. I tried the second book and sadly it doesn't improve.

Disappointing narration
I am quite enjoying the story and the characters, but the narration is very weak. There are very frequent errors of stress and intonation, sometimes just sounding unnatural but other times interfering with the communication of the meaning. Such a disappointment!

Very slow starter
I returned this book after listening for about 2 hours.
I appreciate that the scene needs to be set but, the continuing, inane conversations of the protagonist and her friends bored me. Maybe the story improves if you stick with it but it wasn’t for me.

I enjoyed listening to this story. With relatable characters and a heartwarming storyline.
Narration was good too and brought the story to life
