Summary
Author of the international best sellers The Walker's Guide and How to Read Water illuminates another subject of perennial interest and importance: the weather.
The weather changes as we walk around a tree or turn down a street. There is a secret world of weather - one that we all live in, but very few see.
Each day we pass dozens of small weather signs that reveal what the weather is doing all around us - and what is about to happen. The clues are easy to spot when you know how, but remain invisible to most people.
In The Secret World of Weather, you'll discover the simple rules that explain the weather signs. And you'll learn rare skills that enhance every minute you spend outdoors, whether you are in a town, on a beach or in a wilder spot.
Tristan Gooley knows how to de-code the phenomena and what signs to look for. As he says, 'I want you to get to know these signs as I have, as characters. By studying their habits and behaviours, the signs come to life and the meaning reveals itself. From this flows an ability to read what is happening and what is about to happen.'
This is the ultimate guide to exploring an undiscovered world, one that hides in front of our eyes.

Blew me away!
Brilliantly explained by someone who not only knew his facts, was passionate about his subject but could communicate in a way I could understand. I learnt so much and will listen again with enthusiasm

A must for people who like to get outdoors
With the narrator being the author the words are spoken with real enthusiasm meaning that you take in the words spoken as the passion is in the voice creates the image with his voice. A delightful listen. Each listen you will collect/learn more.

An absolute delight
This book is so wholesome and informative that I have enjoyed every second so far. I strongly recommend listening to the first few chapters whilst sat outside to experience what is said in the book.

small signs, amazing predictions
Tristan has a lovely voice and way of talking to me as I walk and watch the clouds.
The book has the right balance of information and narrative to be a really good audible - if you're interested in weather.
I look forward to my next Gooley audible.

A PHD Masters in weather studies
My guess is that Tristan Gooley must have swallowed the Met Office computer before he sat down to write this book because there doesn't seem to be anything he doesn't know about the weather.
Joking apart, this is a very fine book and whilst it carries a great deal of detail it is very easy to understand and follow. And it covers just about every aspect of this subject which so fascinates us in these damp isles.
Written by someone who must have invented the weather but easy enough for the layperson to follow with ease and no little interest.

Masterly.
Tristan combines outstanding scholarship with the grit and courage of a true adventurer. But the book also offers the delight and friendliness of insights into his home and family life.
For me this will be a significant work of reference. I shall probably listen again - and in the meantime I'm going to buy the book. Ken Bradley
