Addie, the baseball coach, working in a man's world, struggling for respect and appreciation. Fantastic at her job, she still is working to stay in the game. Now, an opportunity is on the horizon and Duncan, an old flame comes to town throwing her a bit and now things are beginning to get messy. Now Addie is convinced to do a charity auction, and who buys her? Duncan! Now this second chance romance begins. I love Pippa Grant. She has a warmth to her writing that immediately pulls me in and makes me feel at home. Addie and Duncan are two people who could be my friends! These two are definitely meant for each other but Addie's self sabotage definitely keeps things on edge. Add in the Copper Valley Thrusters and and Fireball cameos from previous books, and the two are filled with sage advice and lots of laughter. This is a fantastic story that had me listening all day! I needed to know who was helping next, how things were and why it may just not work. It's a fabulous, hilarious, romantic story!

Virginia Rose and Tim Paige are a fantastic team and made this listen! These two work so well together, creating that chemistry that can be felt right through the earbuds. Rose is amazing as Addie. She is confident and then not, letting me feel a realistic emotion that I can relate to! Paige pulls out all the warm and fuzzies as Duncan. He pulled me in and had my heart. I enjoyed these two with their comedic timing and romantic ways. It was a wonderful performance.

This was absolutely amazing! I couldn't stop listening. And I will definitely be listening to it again very soon, and many more times after that, which is exactly the same as with Pippa's other books.
I loved this book, both because of Addie & Duncan's story, but also because Pippa either included, or mentioned at least, almost every one of her previous Copper Valley 'Pippaverse' characters 😄 Many of them were directly included in the book, and it was wonderful to get updates on the lives of characters I have loved previously.
This book was brilliantly written, with Pippa's trademark mix of Romance, Humour and Spice, with excellent narration by two of my favourite narrators, who both have an amazing range of male & female character voices in their repertoire.

Romcom for sure, I was smiling or laughing pretty much through this entire book. It was over before I knew it. I have listened twice in a row now. I especially liked all the different names Duncan gave the dude at the table next to them. The narration was great, both narrators gave their characters personalities. I definitely recommend this book and all of the other copper Valley thrusters & fireball books.

🎧📖AUDIO & EBOOK REVIEW📖🎧

My journey with Pippa Grant’s word started out less than stellar way back in the day, but then, years later, I listened to an audiobook of a story that was so cleverly written I honestly thought it was a different author. But it was not (lol) and ever since that day I have tried to devour as many of Pippa’s words as I can. I don’t know if I changed or she changed or maybe even many moons ago I wasn’t in the right mind set, but now I absolutely love her and her ridiculous sense of humor!! Her stories are vibrant and funny and clever and just all the things that make rom-coms fabulous reads!

The Secret Hook-Up is one of the funniest books I’ve had the pleasure of both listening and reading this year! Thanks to Hambright PR, I got to listen to the ALC a couple of weeks ago and thanks to Give Me Books PR, I got to read this fabulous romcom just a couple of days ago, and I have to tell you, this is one of those times when I would lean more towards listening if you have that opportunity. Virginia Rose & Tim Paige were absolutely fabulous, but that’s not really the reason I’d lean towards listening. The main reason is because a Pippa Grant story comes alive in audio format in a way that puts you in the story without you even trying. I’ve listened to about 13 of her stories so far and every time I feel like part of the story. I laugh as if I was in the story as a secondary character involved in all manners of shenanigans. It’s really hard to explain this phenomenon, but it’s happened to me a handful of times and it’s absolutely glorious when it does. Virgina & Tim didn’t just narrate this story, they acted it out in my head and it was a party up in there for almost 8 hours! #winning

I loved this second chance journey. It had heart and humor and was full of charm. A signature Pippa Grant story you do not want to miss! GO DO THE THING!
