Ceit MacAdam has dreamed of becoming the finest archer in all of Scotland. And as a guardswoman patrolling the land to rid the Highlands of English marauders, she has plenty of opportunities to hone her skills and show off her talents. But when her eyesight fails her in the thick of a battle, she finds herself wounded in both body and spirit.
Brin Cameron has spent nearly 20 years avoiding matters of the heart. As a young man he’d been crushed by a lass and has foresworn entanglements ever since. And yet, as heir to the chief of Clan Cameron, he must take a bride. He cannot risk another battle without securing an heir but he has spent too many years avoiding love to think he will find it now.
When Ceit and her troop of patrollers join with Brin to defend against invaders, the pull between them is undeniable. Ceit, so full of passion and courage, is the partner Brin never knew he wanted. As they battle their way through the Highlands, Brin shows Ceit that life has more in store for her, even a life off the battlefield, that is beyond even her wildest dreams.
