Lyrical and complex, "The Rubaiyat" are a collection of poems by Persian philosopher, astronomer, and poet Omar Khayyam. Written in the 11th century and translated in the 19th century, these poems are subtle and eloquent musings on the nature of beauty and Middle Eastern society. David Ian Davies gives a wonderful performance of this landmark piece of verse. Davies is remarkably well suited to these flowing and sometimes tragic lines.
