About this listen

An Adepta Sororitas Audiobook

Sister Superior Augusta of the Order of the Bloody Rose and her squad find themselves battling a Genestealer Cult with its claws under the planet’s skin – and racing to prevent the arrival of a Tyranid Hive Fleet.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

Sister Augusta of the Order of the Bloody Rose returns in a new Adepta Sororitas novel and must fight to prevent one of the Emperor’s own favoured worlds from becoming prey for the Tyranids.

THE STORY

Opal is a gleaming shrine world of saints and soldiers, beloved of the Emperor Himself. Sent to retrieve the skull of the revered Saint Veres, Sister Superior Augusta of the Order of the Bloody Rose and her squad find themselves in the midst of the capital’s holiest festival, a time of reverence and celebration. But all is not well – despite what its planetary leaders would have Augusta believe, political danger bubbles under the surface, and rebel attacks gnaw away at the city’s outskirts. The greatest threat, however, is yet to come.

As it becomes horrifyingly apparent that a Genestealer Cult has its claws under the planet’s skin, the Sisters realise that can mean only one thing: a hive fleet is on its way to Opal, bringing with it the planet’s doom.

one of the absolute best narrated audiobooks I have heard so far. the different pitches voices and feelings she can convey is impresst.

as a Sororitas fan. the story is great too. and it is awesome to see the story with so much focus on the geensteeler cult too

The narrator is outstanding

Some of the characters are a little less defined than other 40k series, and the singing in the audiobook might put off others, but the faith based sisterhood of combat and closeness has a special place for me and is well portrayed here.

Not for everyone, but is a unique place in 40k

Story doesn't seem to bad however the almost Irish accents and voices given to characters are really annoying though some of these women sound silly. It's fine when she reads normally and doesn't try to hard.

It's ok. Performance annoying at times.

Overall it's a good book that reads well. the characters are typically 40K, not exactly 2 dimensional but not far off it.
However, I warn you to be careful of the volume level when listening to this. The book is randomly pitted with "litanies of song", which is shouted at maximum volume by the voice actress. Even if it's a hymn that is said to the character in their own head, the voice actress will bellow it out like she is trying to banish the heresy out of you. It does put a sour note on the book.

If you are not a fan of the sisters of battle, this book might not be for you.

be careful with your volume
