I fled New York to escape my cheating Fiancé.

Only to collide with a man who’s running from the entire world.

The day of my wedding I find my fiancé half-dressed behind an oversized potted plant, committing himself to one of my bridesmaids.

So I run…

Halfway across the world to an off-the-grid retreat my best friend swears will save me.

Sun. Sea. Meditation.

And absolutely no lying men.

Until I meet one of the instructors.

A man who goes by Woody, and spends his days hidden away in a shack, carving driftwood sculptures like he’s trying to forget the world exists.

He has the strength to crush me, and looks at me like he’s scared he might.

But beneath the armour is a man concealing scars and fighting an internal battle.

He might think he’s a lost cause.

But you’re only lost until someone finds you.

The sensible thing would be to walk away.

Instead, when he warns me to keep my distance, I move closer.

When he tells me he’s not safe, my blood burns hotter.

And as I dig closer to the secret he’s desperate to protect…

He growls my name like I belong to him.

I want to see the real him.

The good. The bad. The broken.

But when I discover the truth about who he is, and what he did, I realize…

Trusting him is the biggest risk I’ll ever take.

(Perfect for listeners who love steamy, emotional, slow-burn romances, featuring a runaway bride, a guarded grumpy hero, forced proximity, one bed, big secrets, sizzling tension, enemies to lovers, found family, and a happily ever after that puts your heart back together after tearing it apart.)

Good easy listen and would recommend. The story is a bit contrived but likeable characters brings a good end to the Beaufort stories. Narrators are both good although thought the male narrator was a bit muffled and had to relished to bits where the female narrator was crystal clear throughout.

Loved the story..

I found some of the narration tone of voice is confusing…
The scene is one of like anger and the text says they’re yelling but the voice actor sounded neutral and unbothered…

There was a few chapters I had to re-listen to or read and listen to because I couldn’t piece together what the author intended because of the tone of voice
