"The Reformatory is one of those books you can't put down. Tananarive Due hit it out of the park." - Stephen King

A gloriously creepy Deep South horror story based on the infamous Dozier School for boys, perfect for fans of The Only Good Indians and Nothing But Blackened Teeth.

Jim Crow Florida, 1950.

Twelve-year-old Robert Stephens Jr., who for a trivial scuffle with a white boy is sent to The Gracetown School for Boys. But the segregated reformatory is a chamber of horrors, haunted by the boys that have died there.

In order to survive the school governor and his Funhouse, Robert must enlist the help of the school's ghosts – only they have their own motivations...©2024 Tananarive Due (P)2024 Simon & Schuster Audio African American Historical Fiction Horror Korkutucu Duygusal olarak çekici Düşündürücü Samimi Aşırı duygusal

Great narration, great story from start to end. Made it feel very sad when you think that those kind of things did happen.

A long book, it I listened to it in just a few days as I couldn’t stop. Storytelling and characters were wonderful, I could see them in my head and I will think about this book for a long time. I want to learn more about the author and the subject, this is a beautiful, sad book dealing with difficult subjects in a wonderful way.

Compelling story

Filled with all sorts of horrors, both tangible and less so - it’s a harrowing representation of what actually went down not that long ago

Exceptionally Good Book

Incredible book, in its darkest moments it is a difficult listen, but there are also moments of light and joy. The narration is top notch and the story moves at a good pace. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

A real "horror" story
