Summary

For Samuel Hoenig, Asperger's isn't so much a syndrome as it is a set of personality traits. And as the sole proprietor of a business called Questions Answered, Samuel's put his personality traits to good use, successfully answering every question he's ever been asked. But when his newest client asks about the true identity of her so-called husband, Samuel recruits his former associate, Janet Washburn, for insight into a subject that's beyond his grasp - marriage. Working as a team seems to be the right approach...until the inscrutable spouse is found dead in Samuel's office. Feeling like he's been taken for a fool, Samuel is more than willing to answer a new question posed by an unexpected inquirer: Who killed the unfamiliar husband?

The deadly game of marriage.

What did you like most about The Question of the Unfamiliar Husband?

The way people think that Samuel is stupid...which is a very bad mistake to make.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Janet Washburn. She just knows how Samuel's condition works, and has that calming effect on him.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

When Samuel got arrested.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. But can be listen to in short spurts just as well.

Any additional comments?

I love the Asperger's mysteries. They are well plotted and written. With great narration from Mark Boyett.

Nice

I know Asperger’s and this book captures some of the pleasures and pain in dealing with it. Both amusing and clever - a good story nicely narrated.

Really addictive listening

I loved the Haunted series of books and now I am hooked on this series.
I really admire the skills of both the author and the narrator in capturing the character and personality of the lead character Samuel.

Really did not want this to end

i enjoyed every moment of this book - Samuel Hoenig is one of the great literary creations and deserves to be in the great canon of crime sleuths and private investigators. The matter of fact analyses of human behaviour and everyday language is written with great comic effect and Mark Boyett's delivery once again brings the whole thing to life. OK - so I worked out much of the conclusion a little earlier than expected but this in no way spoiled my enjoyment as there were still a few twists and turns, and just like the first installment it ended all too soon. I'm going straight on to the next in the series and sincerely hope that the creators don't run out of ideas.

fascinating treatment for a comfy murder story

With a well-cast narrator and intriguing storytelling, this series is - so far - exactly what I needed. All the clues were there for me to get there ahead of the narrative, with story twists to keep it interesting and alive. I love the fidelity of voice given to our protagonist. And the way that precise and careful description of details combine written and spoken styles to create a harmonic framework. contributes to a comforting repetitions. I imagine that the plot development alongside the rhythmic voice and repetitions would provide a comfortable structure within which surprises may be introduced to similar neurotypes to that of our hero. It's also a great way to show us the development of his underlying feelings.

Subtly Satisfying

Listen to a sample and that’s exactly what you’re going to get for the whole book… if you like the underplayed, tongue in cheek, whimsical, then you’ll love this. The main characters are extremely likeable and the series is hypnotically addictive. The plot takes second billing to the characterisation but that doesn’t seem to matter! Enjoy.
