This not probably everyone idea of a love story, but it is very poignant.
The hero is dealing with the death of his men and his acceleration into the upper-classes. A class he has be brought up to abhor, as lazy and frivolous. He also has a huge inferiority complex, which he tries to hide, by being defensive.
The heroine is the daughter of an Earl, yet her marriage left her with her own nightmares. She has dealt with them, by ignoring them.
They are immediately attracted to each other, but both have to overcome their demons.

Love conquers all and there is a lot of trauma, insecurity and class difference to overcome. The narrator was very good.

I see Hugo in my minds eye, a larger than life cuddle, knocked over by a wisp of a beauty. Loved their love story and their journey to understand the class divide.
