Summary

I've been kidnapped by Zeus. Plucked from the streets of Manhattan and frightened half to death by a freaking Olympian god. And now I'm trapped in the Underworld, being forced to compete in a series of deadly trials for the position of Queen of the Underworld. Which would mean marrying Hades, the utterly terrifying Lord of the Dead. Who the hell wants a husband at all, let alone one made of smoke and riddled with death?

I have to get back home, to New York and my brother. But I can't leave without completing the trials and they've been designed for a godly Queen, not Persephone - barista and botanical garden enthusiast. I'm surrounded by lethal, all-powerful maniacs. Sexy-as-hell maniacs, sure, but as dangerous as they come. And I'm going to have to prove to all of them that there's a goddess of hell inside me. It's the only way I'll survive the Hades Trials. But then what? And why, why, why am I so desperate to see under Hades smoky exterior and find out what he's hiding from me?

If I win the trials, I have to marry the devil himself. But losing might mean losing my life.

The Power of Hades is book one in the Hades Trials, which is intended for adults and is packed with magic, mythology and slow-burn soulmate romance!

Contains swearing and mature themes.

Perfect start.

I was kidnapped by Zeus from the streets of Manhattan and thrown into trials for Queen of the Underworld if I win I’m to marry Hades . Then they tell me I’m Persephone FML can things get any worse. Really enjoyed listening to this the characters are great and Lia does a fabulous job with them all.

Doesn’t feel like a whole book

An interesting reimagining of the story of Persephone, but doesn’t feel like a whole book. Maybe it’s the lack of build or the ‘cliff hanger’ ending but just doesn’t feel like the story went far enough or felt satisfying as a stand alone book. Not a fan of serialising without strong individual novels. Narration is a little dull but fine.

Judged a book by its cover... total win!

Ok, here is the thing... I'm perusing the romance options looking for something to listen to at work. Usually I like something simple and steamy... I thought this book would fit the bill. I really enjoyed the story! So much so that I had to listen to something else at work because I was engrossed in the story! And then.... the credits roll (so to speak) and not one God or Goddess has had sex with anything. What??? I was a little miffed at that, felt robbed so I didn't even look for book 2. Then my mind kept going back to the story, I missed the characters, I wondered what would happen next. Came here for a good sex scene, left with a freaking excellent story.

Wow So unoriginal! Total waste of credit and time.

This book feels like it was written by an angsty teenager. I ended up fast forwarding much of the story because it was so predictable. It’s like all these authors regurgitate their stories. Same little princess girl, meets same Mr. hot chunkyness guy who broods and girl wants to fix. “I want her I want her not but I love her I’m too damaged for her” type crap. HOW DID IT GET SO MANY STARS?!? I suppose I’m not the main audience for this book I guess.

Liked it except

Zeus, Hades and Poseidon were brothers who ruled their own realms as equals. Zeus had no control over his brothers. I liked the book except for this irritating mistake.

Completely confused

I really do want my credit back and the hours that I spent listening to the story. Because it could’ve been epic but instead it’s a cliffhanger, completely unfinished storyline and I’m not even really sure there’s a plot to it. Because what I thought was the plot we do not seem to be moving in the direction of.

So I’m confused with the direction in which this was supposed to be moving is and why there was no wrap up and it would take another three books at this pace to get to a wrap up.

___ed through me

The premise and plot were so promising completely derailed by bad writing and a cash grab trilogy. There is no reason the story is broken into three books.

If the author ctrl+f'd their manuscript for "through m" and edited even half of them, this book would be an hour shorter and significantly better written.

Waste of a credit especially because this is on Kindle Unlimited, but if you, like me couldn't handle a book with a New York native that doesn't use quotation marks for dialogue, just skip it entirely, the book does not deliver.

Entertaining

It was great to listen to the story and hear the different voices. Almost like I was being immerse into the room with Persephone and feeling the cold chill down my spine as Hades showed his powers toward her.
