The Lost Apothecary meets Gothikana in a Victorian era gothic romance about a botanist who likes to poison unsavory men, but when her next target visits her apothecary, they discover their dark bond runs deeper than they imagined.

“Have you ever wondered how long it would take for a lethal dose of arsenic to kill you?
Thirty-five hours, twenty-nine minutes, and fifteen seconds.
I should know. I counted myself.”

Amidst the gaslit alleys and cobblestone streets of Victorian London, two killers find themselves entangled in a waltz they cannot escape.

Alina Lis, a botanist and hobbyist poisoner, has a pastime of killing unsavory men in her twisted sense of poetic justice. When she targets the conceited playboy, Silas Forbes, only to find him in her apothecary the following week, she discovers human men are the least of her problems.

The pair’s unlikely association sparks gossip among affluent society. As their mysterious bond deepens, a chilling truth emerges—concealed identities, lurking foes, and questions as plentiful as the hydra’s head brew within this haunting Gothic tale of violent passion.

Will Silas and Alina find themselves in each other's arms, or will the shadows of their past keep them apart? Gothic Historical Historical Fiction Horror Paranormal Victorian

Haven't read a book like this in a while. One that grips me from the beginning. Its written perfectly. I need more books by I.v ophillia. Can not wait for the next book and did she get on the titanic at the end? Iv already purchased book 2. I read this on audible. I advise all to listen to it. Its amazing.

Loved loved LOVED this book, I just wish that the female voice actor did all female voices and the male voice actor all the males as hearing them do all the speaking in the chapter except the opposite main character was a bit odd.
Accents were really good though!

Amazing story and voice acting

I enjoyed this a lot, as someone who does like dark Romance, I felt that the plot was somewhat easy to guess though (which doesn't make it bad) the one thing that this lost points for is I felt that the book jumped sometimes from scene to scene and despite it being a duet, the female narrator still did male characters apart from the mmc in her chapters and vice versa. The story was enjoyable and I enjoyed this take on a 'monster' romance.

Enjoyable
