About this listen
Years of mental and physical abuse formed Mae into an independent hermit. Perhaps that’s what drew Elsu to her - his desire to protect her and keep her from pain. Whatever it was that drew him in, she couldn’t imagine life without him now. There is, however, a downside. With dating a basketball star comes celebrity status and prying eyes at every turn. Can she elude the spotlight and keep her day job as the operator of her grandfather’s hand-me-down chop shop? Or will tragedy’s hand strike a blow that even Elsu can’t repair?
©2017 Marylee Brown (P)2019 Intrigue Publishing, LLCThis story didn't work for me, it was problematic and underdeveloped... Basketball star Elsu falls for our Heroine Mae (who had a horrid character backstory- it's needlessly triggering and since she exhibited almost zero strength or survivor attitude she was simply airheaded) Mae's job working at turning her inherited chop-shop into a success runs into trouble when someone seems to be sabotaging the store and breaking into her home.
Prying eyes are a lot closer for comfort than either would like.
Unsure if the stalker is targeting her because of her relationship, Elsu does everything he can to step in and protect his little woman... who insists on making the most moronic life choices putting herself, at unnecessary risk. For such a gallant 'love story' they had zero connection, and the eventual reveal of our villain? That made this entire 9 hours and 40 minutes I spent listening to this very disappointing.
Illiana Chaity's Narration for the male character ruined this story... and the female character got hysterical until the performance was earachingly pitchy. It could have benefitted from having two narrators.
not my sports romance.
