Summary

Prepare for an audio-enhanced descent...into horror.

A prisoner, sentenced to death during the Spanish Inquisition, finds himself trapped in a lightless cell to contemplate his fate. Will he die by falling helplessly into a deathly, yawning pit in the center of the room? Or will the deadly, razor-sharp pendulum slowly descending from the ceiling be the cause of his demise?

This enhanced audiobook - with music and sound effects - is an unabridged copy of the classic story by the master of horror, Edgar Allan Poe, and produced by Fort Raphael Publishing, Chicago, Illinois.

Poe

It feels like a reminiscent of my school days when we were going through all the famous authors including Edgar Allan Poe.

Great way to enjoy a classic

I am a fan of classic books and of Edgar Allan Poe but if I read Poe I usually have nightmares. Also, usual readings of Poe are done in a spooky and painfully slow scary voice a la Vincent Price. This version was read by a talented narrator that did justice to the story but didn’t have the creep factor ramped up. And it wasn’t so slow you couldn’t follow it. In addition there are some entertaining sound effects that brought life to the reading. If you are a student that has this as required reading or simply enjoy a classic, I can highly recommend this version. It’s well produced and easy to listen to. Love the sound effects!
