Summary

Somebody once said we don’t decide who we love. The world decides for us. But I disagree.

I believe love is a decision.
Who we love, how we love.
It’s in our control - in our hands.

I grew up having no clue about the true meaning of love. Money. Cars. Houses. Status. Fame. That’s what love means to the people around me.

It wasn’t until the woman I picked up in a bar came back into my life and showed me love can be so much more.

So, what’s the problem?
The woman I’m falling in love with believes in fairytales. She compares everything to a storybook and wants the happily-ever-after.

So while she’s stuck on recreating stories that have already been told, page by page, I’m showing her it’s time we write our own book.

Nobody ever said the journey of falling in love would be easy, just that it would be worth it.

The Pickup is a standalone sports romance

Love

Every book of Nikki’s that I have read have been amazing and she definitely didn’t disappoint with this one. It’s a beautiful second chance novel. The main characters have amazing chemistry and the story flows really well. I love the drops of sweetness, humour and seriousness that are woven through this book it just takes it to the next level.

for a sports novel it doesn’t have the over the top amount of sports references that some of the sports books have. I also just wanted to say that Tim was the perfect narrator for the this book.just loved him.

sweet, sexy second chance love

I really enjoyed this sweet, sexy, second chance story, the first I've read by this author.

Nick is a top footballer but one who has been wrecked emotionally by his parents. He and Olivia share a passionate one night stand, but Nick is left disappointed the following morning to find that she's gone before he can get her number.

Unexpectedly they meet up again almost a year later and the emotions and sparks fly as secrets are spilled, but their chemistry and attraction is undeniable, if only they can forgive the past and let go of the pain and move on into the future.

The narrator was great, there was angst, emotion and good character development and I found it really easy to listen to. I'm looking forward to more from Nikki Ash

A story I will listen to over and over

I have previously read the Pick Up some time ago on my kindle and really enjoyed it. This is my first audio book that is not Dual narrated and I wasn't sure if I would like it. However Tim Paige does a wonderful job and although I do prefer dual narration it didn't take away from how much I enjoyed the story, that said the way one of the female characters voices was done was not my favourite. The Pickup is a story full of heart, humour, sensuality and romance and the narration portrays this well. I reacted to my favourite parts of the book as much as I did the first time I read it, laughing out loud and the humour and cringing at the awkward moments. It's an audio book that is easy to listen to, engaging and well paced, Tim's narration is clear and expressive and I would be happy to listen to the novel over and over again.

Sweet and Sexy!

This was such a sweet and sexy second chance football romance. I loved Olivia and Nick and their dual POVs. They had a lot of chemistry and made a great couple. While this is a standalone, it felt like a cliffhanger at the end because it left me anxious to hear Giselle and Killian's story which I assume is book 2 and can't come out on audio fast enough. Tim Paige did a great job with both the male and female characters and really brought this story to life. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Nick & Olivia!

Nikki Ash, why is this my first book by you? I really enjoyed this story. Sports romance, second chances this book has a little of everything. Nick is a pro football player looking for lust. He find Olivia, who is looking to sleep away her ex! The two get together for an explosive one night stand, and he is left the next morning with a note. Figuring they would never see each other again, they are both surprised to find each other under unexpected circumstances. Will they find their happily ever after? It's funny, it's surprising, with that warm and fuzzy feeling. I loved Nick. He surprised me with his expressions when he first saw Olivia again, but then his perseverance to win her over was so loving and endearing, it is impossible not to love him. Olivia is a tough cookie, a little harder to warm up to. She is guarded for good reason, but once her shell cracks, it is smooth sailing! Twists, turns, laughs and passion make this a great listen!

Tim Paige is amazing. It's my first listen by him and I adored his voice. He has a great pace, a good variety of voices and his ability to tell the story is impeccable. I really enjoyed his performance.

Good chemistry

Nick and Olivia's story is quite interesting. It’s tough to find men like Nick in real life, tbh. So, it was tough to believe in his mind set about love but overall, we all can dream about it and hey, Nikki ash managed to write about it! For the most part, it’s adorable and yet, still have hot and steamy moments. Their chemistry is pretty off the chart and glad it wasn’t over the top drama. . I loved their chemistry and that the story has drama but it wasn't over top. It’s a solid 4 stars for me.

Awesome sports romance

I don’t really care for one night stand but this one is the exception. This story had my interest from the beginning to the end. Highly recommend.

Holy hotness, Batman

This is both the first book I’ve read/listened to by Nikki Ash and Tim Paige as a narrator. First, let me say that I totally get why people have recommended him as a narrator. He could read me a grocery list and I’d be okay with it. As far as the story goes...what is it about athletes? Oh....they’re hot. The age old story of the one that got away, but showed back up, and, oops! Pregnant. The storyline is similar to other’s, yet it isn’t. It’s worth the listen. I recommend it with two thumbs up.

Football Star, Supermodel Fiancée & Baby Mama

The Pickup is the first book in the Imperfect Love series and can be enjoyed as a stand-alone book. Narrated by Tim Page who does a pretty good job with many characters.

Nick Shaw grew up in a wealthy family where love was shown in possessions and not caring for a person. His best friend growing up, Celeste, always had his back and her plan is a to marry rich and have an easy life. As an adult she becomes a super model. Nick is a pro football player. His last relationship blew up when it turned out she was all about his money.

Enter Olivia Harper where she meets Nick at a bar. They have sizzling chemistry and hook up for a really hot night. Each for their own reasons, gives the other a false name. Olivia leaves in the morning only leaving Nick a note. Surprise! She's pregnant and, not surprising, she can't track down her baby daddy since she doesn't even know his real name. She is successful in her own right and doesn't need a man to raise a baby, she just thought he should know.

In the meantime, Nick decides he's done with relationships and emotions. He and Celeste agree to an arranged marriage because at least they know what they are getting with each others. But no kids, ever. So now Nick is engaged.

So starts the crazy triad. Olivia runs into Nick, learns who he really is and he finds out about his son. Now Nick finds he is torn between a near stranger who he wanted to see more than one night and who is having his baby, a fiancée who he promised he would never have kids and is his long term friend and his football career. Olivia is capable of supporting the baby and willing to let Nick out of fatherhood of he isn't interested and he will sign away his rights. Does Nick really want to do that? Tough choices for everyone.

Never Give Up On Love

Nick is college football player who gets drafted early. After an injury, his girlfriend left him and he all but gives up on love. One night at a bar he meets a woman named Liv and they are immediately attracted to one another. After an evening of drinking they spend the night together. The next morning Nick wakes up alone, bummed that yet again he was tossed to the side by a woman. Months later Olivia is back in his life but things have changed since their night together.
I’ll be honest that I didn’t like Nick at first. I thought he was really rude to Olivia when they ran into each other again but considering how selfish his parents were with their time and love, it’s easy to see how he would be jaded and think everyone wanted something from him. I love how he took everything into consideration and decided he wanted to be different and wanted to pursue a relationship with Olivia. This story was well written and sucked me in from the beginning.
Tim Paige did a phenomenal job narrating. I will definitely be looking for more books narrated by him.

Truly addictive!

Totally addictive and swoony, worthy of over a five star rating! The Pickup not only has amazing main characters with great chemistry, but their supporting characters will easily keep you hooked and wanting to know them more. I could not put this book down. Nikki truly spoils her readers time and time again, and this book was no different. I FLOVED Olivia and Nick! The hotness factor with these two was off the charts. And the heart melting level was right along with it. I loved watching these character's growth through their story, personally and together. Everyone wants a fairytale type of love, and Nick and Olivia show that it takes hard work and courage to achieve that HEA in their own way. Starting with a one night hookup that leads to way more than either of them bargained for. Stock up the munchies and enjoy the ride along with them in The Pickup by Nikki Ash.

An amazing start with book 1 in her new Imperfect Love series. A complete standalone with its own HEA, told in Dual POV. Definitely a must read that will leave you wanting more. I cant wait for more from these hot football players and their friends! Plus the amazing eye candy with their yummy covers ♡

Wow...what a ride.

This was my first Nikki Ash story and I loved it. Not only the plot but the characters. I loved how they grew and learned to trust each other. They had depth, and the relationships were genuine. I think the narrator did an amazing job bringing this story to life. The sexy times, though hot, weren't over the top, and they moved the story forward. They weren't just thrown in. The pacing was perfection.

Realistic fun romance

Nick is a cynic, doesn’t understand love, doesn’t want kids, will settle for a loveless marriage. Liv believes in fairytales, wants the forever, the happy ever after. A one night stand changes both there lives for ever.
The Pickup is a sweet sports rom-com, narrated by Tim Paige, and he did an amazing job with bringing these characters to life.
I was gifted this audible book by narrator for a fair and honest review.
