Summary

Somebody once said we don’t decide who we love. The world decides for us. But I disagree.

I believe love is a decision.
Who we love, how we love.
It’s in our control - in our hands.

I grew up having no clue about the true meaning of love. Money. Cars. Houses. Status. Fame. That’s what love means to the people around me.

It wasn’t until the woman I picked up in a bar came back into my life and showed me love can be so much more.

So, what’s the problem?
The woman I’m falling in love with believes in fairytales. She compares everything to a storybook and wants the happily-ever-after.

So while she’s stuck on recreating stories that have already been told, page by page, I’m showing her it’s time we write our own book.

Nobody ever said the journey of falling in love would be easy, just that it would be worth it.

The Pickup is a standalone sports romance

Sweet and Sexy!

This was such a sweet and sexy second chance football romance. I loved Olivia and Nick and their dual POVs. They had a lot of chemistry and made a great couple. While this is a standalone, it felt like a cliffhanger at the end because it left me anxious to hear Giselle and Killian's story which I assume is book 2 and can't come out on audio fast enough. Tim Paige did a great job with both the male and female characters and really brought this story to life. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

The Pickup

This book has a couple twists that will catch your attention and keep it there all the way until the happy ending. I enjoyed listening to this book and will definitely be looking into more from the author as well as the narrator.

Nick & Olivia!

Nikki Ash, why is this my first book by you? I really enjoyed this story. Sports romance, second chances this book has a little of everything. Nick is a pro football player looking for lust. He find Olivia, who is looking to sleep away her ex! The two get together for an explosive one night stand, and he is left the next morning with a note. Figuring they would never see each other again, they are both surprised to find each other under unexpected circumstances. Will they find their happily ever after? It's funny, it's surprising, with that warm and fuzzy feeling. I loved Nick. He surprised me with his expressions when he first saw Olivia again, but then his perseverance to win her over was so loving and endearing, it is impossible not to love him. Olivia is a tough cookie, a little harder to warm up to. She is guarded for good reason, but once her shell cracks, it is smooth sailing! Twists, turns, laughs and passion make this a great listen!

Tim Paige is amazing. It's my first listen by him and I adored his voice. He has a great pace, a good variety of voices and his ability to tell the story is impeccable. I really enjoyed his performance.

It was a decent story. It kept me entertained enough on car rides. Pretty predictable though.

Fabulous story and great narration!!

This is the latest book by Nikki Ash and she once again was able to leave us with a book full of lust, want, helplessness, and second chances.
Football is one of my favorite sports so this book already held my interest before I even started reading but then I got started and I couldn’t put it down. Nick and Olivia are so strong and yet so vulnerable at times. I really enjoyed watching them work for their HEA even when at times it seemed like it would be too much. They were able to take all outside influences and put them in a box in order to focus each other and I loved that they were able to prioritize and work together.

Overall this book was a fun, easy to listen to and I definitely recommend that you check it out, especially with the next one coming soon!

Fairy Tales Do Come True!

Pleasantly surprised with how much I loved this baby/sports romance! Nick is a football player who loses his faith in finding love, and Olivia is a successful and smart woman in search of her Prince Charming. A chance meeting and an unforgettable one night stand, Nick thought he lost any chance of ever seeing Olivia again… until fate brings them back together with a baby to boot! I loved how Nick fought for a second chance at love and how Olivia got the fairy tale that she deserved. This was my first book by Nikki Ash, but it certainly won’t be the last. I look forward to reading/listening the next in the series. A new-to-me narrator, Tim Paige, did an amazing job with the narration. I loved both his male and female points of view, and his secondary voices were very distinct and fit the personalities perfectly.

Great book

This is the first book from Nikki Ash I have read. Nick is a star quarterback and grew up wealthy. His family is all about money and power and controlling him. Olivia and Nick meet in a one night stand. Their story is sweet. I very much enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next in the series.

Loved it ♥️

Nikki Ash has done it again!!!! I LOVE second chance romances especially when a certain SOMETHING is left behind. It all starts with a one night stand.
✔️Boy meets girl in a club
✔️They have a one night stand
✔️Something is left behind
✔️Girl can’t find Boy
Do you believe in fairytales? We all grew up watching Disney Movies. Does the happily ever after exist? I believe it does, it just takes work. Lots of work. Nick & Olivia have a lot of work to do to to get there. The Pickup will have you pulling these two and wanting their Happily Ever After. Thank you Nikki Ash for another amazing book! That extended epilogue, though 🤔
I think Tim did a great job narrating, but I think the story could have benefited from dual or duet narration because this story has dual points of view.

Enjoyable

Both the author Nikki Ash and narrator Tim Paige are new to me. The Pickup is a second chance at love story that was enjoyable.

They say that love can be like a fairy tale and that is what heroine Liv believes, looking for her Disney prince; Nick is a pro footballer who has given up on finding love after numerous break ups.

After a one night stand Liv and Nick part ways with Nick feeling rejected. However fate has a way of interfering and they meet again. As with their first meeting, the chemistry between Nick and Liv sizzles.

Can the passion that ignites between them morph into more? I really liked Nick, he was so swoon worthy. Liv was strong and determined and someone I could be friends with.
Although Tim Paige did a good job, I do feel that the story might have benefited from dual or duet narration, but then that is just my opinion.

Fast Paced, 4 Solid Stars

This was unlike the typical romance in the best way, very fast paced and no true conflict the focus was on this couple who created their own farytail.
as side note I am looking forward to the next installment of the imperfect love series, of these interconnected standalones.

as always I won't give spoilers just say that this is a HEA, as far as the narration I truly wish they would have had a dual or 2 narrator telling, while most of the book is told in our Hero's POV, when we got the heroines perspective in my personal opinion he couldn't voice her as I imagined.

wonderful

I have read the book already and hearing the audible version gives me a different experience. A couple of the voices could have been better in my opinion (I just don't see Celeste sounding like that) but overall an excellent audio book!
