Summary

They vow to love, honor, cherish...

With her signature spirit, Faith Merridew has left everything she's ever known for the man she thought was the love of her life. Instead he leaves her name - and dreams - in the dust. That is, until she crosses paths with Nicholas Blacklock, a Waterloo veteran, who offers to save her reputation with a marriage of convenience.

...and then get to know one other.

A hardened soldier, Nick hides a deadly secret - and tries to keep Faith at arm's length. But even though Nick can command legions of men with a word, his orders go sweetly ignored by his convenient bride. And as they come to know one another more deeply, she brings out in him things he thought dead: gentleness, laughter...and love....

Contains mature themes.

The Best Yet!

This has an inauspicious start seemingly quite unnerving and unlikely, given what we (think we) know about Faith. But, of all of the stories and characters that we met this far, this tale has the most diverse range and flamboyant personalities of the series. It is the definitive ‘coming of age/fish out of water’ tale and extremely unique in the telling.

Heather Wilds is just superb in this! She has SO MANY accents to pull out of the bag! Many of them flowing one after the other in the give and take of conversations. She handles them with both skill and authenticity!

I don’t know how this can be topped! The family dynamics are expanding rapidly - from 5 tortured but resilient young orphans, to a dynasty of 14 and counting... a thoroughly enjoyable series.

LOVED this third book

I have enjoyed reading this series on the Merridew sisters, however, this third book kept me enthralled from start to finish. It was adventurous, funny and sad. Not often do I cry from stories, but this one had me in tears.

It was unexpected that this would be the book I enjoyed the most. At the end of book two it suggested that Faith had taken off with the flamboyant violinist and I had decided that was a mistake. Therefore, I wasn't anticipating the turn of events that befell Faith. The hero was amazing as was his friends. Many sad stories interwoven into this as it was the aftermath of war and loss.

The jest of the story is about learning to love, and working to make a respectful, strong relationship. You will love Faith's story and the supporting characters as well. There is sex and sexual tension, but this is one of things I like about romance novels.

Heather Wilds is an excellent narrator and creates voices that suits the characters. This can be a read alone story but you will miss much about the family and the history of why Faith reacts to some situations as she does. Well done Anne Gracie!

Best Book EVER!!!!

From the beginning till the end, it was an awesome sweet and tender story! I am a big fan of Julia London, Quinn and McNaught and this author and story is right up there with the best. I could not STOP till the end. Get your tissues out because you will be laughing and crying and totally transported.

The Narrator did an excellent 5 star telling of the story. Her voices were amazingly variable.

A refreshing and skillfully written love story

This book sent me through an engaging medley of emotions from laughing out loud, anger, deep sadness, empathy and joy. Each character was skillfully woven into the storyline and I fell in love with each of them. The steamy romance was beautifully relevant and meaningful and didn’t feel random or forced like in so many romance novels. The only negative in my rating is for the performance. Heather Wilds is one of my favorite narrators and I love her voice but with all due respect she doesn’t do a good Spanish accent. However, this book was well worth the purchase!
