Story
To her younger sister, Tessa, Caroline O'Shaughnessy has everything - great looks, easy charm, and the distinctly desirable Damien Woods. But for Caroline, things don't feel quite so rosy. She'd dreamed about moving in with Damien but not about having his child just yet. And though he did the honourable thing when she told him she was pregnant, it obviously wasn’t what he wanted either.

Story
What do you do when you find yourself suddenly single? Go suddenly suicidal? Suddenly sexcrazed? Or simply slump into self-pity? Alix Callaghan, who thought she was in control of her busy life, feels like doing all three when her long-term boyfriend insists on settling down to a sensible existence – complete with children, proper meals and early nights – but without her. Little by little, though, Alix begins to think there might be more to the single life than the first shock of rejection suggests...

Story
Gemma Garvey’s marriage has been over for ages. And it was Gemma’s choice to end it; her decision to go it alone with two kids, rather than pretend the marriage to career-obsessed David was working. So why is she so upset when he marries that flame-haired bimbo, Orla O’Neill? Is it that Orla’s nearer in age to Gemma’s teenage daughter than to herself? But for Orla, being wife number two isn’t all she’d imagined. And the trouble has only just begun.

Story
This is the story of two very different children growing up in a small Irish seaside town in the 50s and 60s. Shouting their hearts' desires into the echo cave, praying that their destiny will lead them far away from the town in which they live. Castlebay, in winter empty and grey with wind and sea spray, becomes all bustle and colour in the gaudy days of summer. The paths of these two characters are destined to criss-cross in a quite unforeseen way, and eventually both roads will lead back to Castlebay.

Summary
Two very different sisters, Mia (still in love with Alejo, the married father of her daughter) and Britt (the ice maiden, who has ironically written a romantic bestseller), join a luxury honeymoon cruise in the Caribbean where Britt is the guest lecturer. Also on board are recently widowed Leo, still reeling from the discovery of his wife’s betrayal just before her death, and Steve, a ship’s officer who’s soon looking for more than a holiday romance with Mia. Can Steve replace Alejo and is there any chance that Britt and Leo can see that they really should get together?

non brain taxing story
Where does The Perfect Man rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
this book is probably my least favourite story
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
good to learn what happens to the characters at the end of the story
What didn’t you like about Caroline Lennon’s performance?
awful. all the characters had the same Irish accent and I could not define sometimes who was talking! even on a large cruise ship everyone was Irish!
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Nah, no emotion
Any additional comments?

Line Up, Line Up! for the perfect man.
Would you consider the audio edition of The Perfect Man to be better than the print version?
Good story and well read. I listen to Audible whilst quilting, so I can keep up with my reading whilst doing something else, so probably won't have had time to read the book.
What about Caroline Lennon’s performance did you like?
I like her performance, and I find if a reader doesn't jar with your hearing you just accept that this is how the book should be and it flows lovely.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When certain events unfold you can empathize with the character and understand what makes them the person they are.

This story took ages to get going and then seemed to run out of steam just when things began to get interesting between the main characters.

Start o chapters
I was so fed up of having to listen again to all the twaddle that came with the beginning of every chapter that I nearly put this book down several times as I thought it totally spoiled the story.
