This book describes the background history of the revolt, the living conditions and attitudes. It names the leaders of the revolt, includes famous quotes of the time, a summary of the marches and raids. It describes the consequences of the revolt for the people, the elite and the country’s domestic and foreign politics.
The writing illustrates the attitudes between the classes throughout this era and touches upon wider issues that gained a footing after the revolt.
The narrator has a pleasant voice and reading style. He maintained my interest in the writing, he is American so pronounces some of the towns with an American accent but it detracts nothing from the book.
I will look for more audios by this author and would happily listen to this narrator for hours on end.
