Summary

The sense of foreboding came out of nowhere. It was so strong that I couldn't even speak at first. My eyes lifted in horror to Blair's smiling face. "Death stalks you tonight," I warned. "Stay inside your house. Don't go out for anything."

Clarissa was just pretending to be a fortune teller for the school carnival until she made an eerie prediction of danger that came true. Damien survived the vicious attack but began to exhibit strange behavior.

werewolf story with real heart

I really enjoyed this book, it started off feeling like a typical teenage coming of age romance with touches of the supernatural, unexpected psychic abilities, freak wolf attacks, the popular boy liking the unpopular girl but not wanting to say so cos status is a big thing to high schoolers. but as the story progresses it doesn't take long to see there is actually depths to all of the characters, they all have hard choices to make and their own paths to follow. I enjoyed that we got a glimpse of their future too, things didn't just stop as teenagers, the decisions they made then and the impact it had on them is a nice change to see.

I also felt the narrator had great time for the majority of the book, yes all of the male voices sounded pretty much the same, but it didn't impact on the flow of the narrative at all, it was still really enjoyable and i would definitely reccomended this book as worth a listen to anyone looking for something just a bit different.

Teen angst and werewolves

I love a good werewolf story and in the main I wasn’t disappointed by this one. It was an enjoyable listen from start to finish and there were some nice twists, some that I didn’t even see coming. It was well written and the narrator was spot on, even though all her male characters sounded exactly the same.

That said, there were a few things that didn’t sit well with me. Namely how after being bitten by a wolf, Damien wasn’t shown to be freaking out about the changes that were happening to him in the lead up to his first full moon. It was as if he took it all in his stride, as if that is what one would expect if you’d just been bitten by a wolf. The same goes for Clarissa, she and her friend instantly suspected that Damien had been changed after the bite, like there could be no other explanation.

It was only a minor detail, but it irked me throughout the first few chapters. I understand that the story was told through Clarissa’s POV, but a conversation between the two about what was going on with Damien would have made more sense.

All in all, I really liked the story and how it went on from high school into adulthood in the closing chapters.

Great narration from Sarah

This book has a good strong storyline. It follows several characters through the changes they endure from a rouge werewolf . Lots of action and a fantastic performance from Sarah.
