Summary
This number-one New York Times best-selling novel is Sidney Sheldon at his best...a novel complete with tortured romantic entanglements, reverses of fortune, thrilling suspense, and ultimate justice.
In Paris, in Washington, and in Greece in a fabulous villa, an innocent American becomes a bewildered, horror-stricken pawn in a game of vengeance and betrayal. She is Catherine Douglas, a woman caught in a web of four lives intertwined by passion as her handsome husband pursues an incredibly beautiful film star...and as Constantin Demeris, a legendary Greek tycoon, tightens the strands that control them all.

Amazing.
Well, being Greek, it added an extra dimension! I'd read the book back in the 70's, but this audio version was so good.

The danger creeps up on you.
I like all books by this author and was especially excited when I found more titles available on audible. This story is not on like a lot of Sidney Sheldon's books in that it has a lot of twists and turns. It is a little less graphic in its description of violent scenes. I enjoyed getting to know all the characters and even started to to empathise with the antagonist. I like the way he is able to get you to see what goes on in the minds of all the characters. It's really interesting read if you like adventure. The only thing I would like to add is that it could be a little more descriptive of the outfits Noelle wore during grand occasions. You sort of had an idea but not a great picture of everything. I would strongly recommend that you never cross Constantine Demires 😨😰

Dangerous Liaisons
WoW this book starts off charting the journey about a very naive young woman Catherine who wants to lose her virginity and fears she will die a virgin. In another scenario we meet Noelle who is beautiful and has a Father who puts money before her happiness. She escapes that life and has very little money. She meets the enigmatic aviator Larry who she has a whirlwind romance and he says they can get married and then he disappears. She later finds that she is pregnant and she starts on a path of revenge. With the help of a small town detective she is carefully arming herself with knowledge about him whilst orchestrating what she wants out of life.
All the men in her life bend over backwards mesmerised by her beauty. The story flits between Noelle and Catherine then Catherine meets Larry. She is dating someone else but all that goes out the window and they are married super quickly.
All the pieces are starting to come together and by now Noelle is involved with the super rich business man Constantine Demeris. Noelle moves to Greece with him and slowly weaves her web. Now Noelle is used to picking men up and throwing them away. Has she bitten off more than she can chew with Demeris and what happens when they are all in Greece all orchestrated by Noelle….

Enjoyable read
Where does The Other Side of Midnight rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It was an ok book. I read it first 30 years ago and wondered why it had a 'dated' feel to it!!! It was a nostalgic visit for me. At 18 it was racy and thrilling. Some of the characters were 'weak' and too old fashioned.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Females a bit wishy washy and men too chauvinistic so I didn't have a favourite.
Have you listened to any of Steven Pacey’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No, but he did a good job
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Not sure how the 'dated' characters would fare in a modern day film. They'd need a personality reboot.
Any additional comments?
Perhaps Sidney Sheldon might be too dated for today's reader or maybe I am too 'mature' for the book now!
