Summary

A haunted omega, a single dad, and the world's sweetest surprise...

Music has always been the first love of singer-songwriter Kade Ashton. And it was that love that gave him the strength to break free from his arranged marriage to make a life for himself amongst the spotlights. He's living his dream, until a media scandal derails his career and leaves him hiding from the very public he used to seek out.

But his dream is still alive, and to get his career back on track, he'll take any job that gets him in front of an audience and helps him pay his bills. Even if it means performing at a wedding in that worst of all terrible places - a small town.

After his husband's death, Shane is convinced he's had his one chance at love and that part of his life is over. He has his kids, and they're enough to keep a single dad on his toes - there's no time or room for dating. Until he's asked to host the singer for his cousin's wedding. First, the sexy omega's music draws him in, then he meets the omega himself. And he realizes that, maybe, love isn't just a one-time thing.

Still, their one night together was supposed to be just that, until a positive pregnancy test brings them back together. Can they find a harmonious middle ground between small-town father and big-city star, or are they doomed to lives that are out of tune with their hearts?

as good as the ebook

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Fantastic gentle mpreg romance

I loved both small town mechanic Shane, a widowed alpha with two kids and LA musician Cade a young omega with a past. This is a gentle romance which moves at a great pace with an unplanned pregnancy, an overzealous music agent, pets and some not so nice people. The narration is as usual spot on, bringing the characters to life. Thoroughly enjoyable listen.

Cute romance and thought-provoking!

I haven’t been that comfortable with Alpha / Omega stories up until now, finding them overly sentimental, but this story changed my mind. While there was certainly many cutsie moments, the focus on omega rights gave this story extra depth and gave me pause for thought - why is that people who bear children are often seen as lesser? Notorious country singer, Kade, has escaped an overly religious community and marriage where omegas have few rights. He plays at a wedding where he meets widower and father of two, Shane, who is still grieving his loss. Both men have scars and help each other heal. Through this story I’ve realised that omegaverse stories are really science fiction and that sits more comfortably with me. The two main characters and the family are extremely likeable, and the story was engaging. 🎧 John Solo knocks this out of the park. He has very distinct voices for the two main characters and the children and his expression is excellent.

Very sweet story

I had mixed feelings about the end of this story. I really enjoyed how everything went down from the start... how both Kade and Shane felt something from the start, and what a stand up guy Shane was.

Kade was responsible in telling Shane about his past at every opportunity to ensure he always heard the news from Kade first.

They were level headed when it came to decisions involving the children and their families, and I just thought all of this made for a great story, until the end. I found the payoff to be kind of skeevy and for Kade to be happy about it just felt odd to me.

Otherwise, John Solo did a great job and I really enjoyed this second chance at life story!
