Summary

Another seven BBC Radio 4 full-cast dramas, written and adapted by Alexander McCall Smith from his own best-selling series.

A third outstanding collection of stories featuring Botswana’s only female private detective agency, run by the irrepressible Precious Ramotswe. Based on the hugely popular novels and brought to life with music and full casts, these evocative productions return us to Botswana, where Precious has more mysteries to solve.

In the first of these seven episodes, Mma Ramotswe helps an adopted child search for her birth family; gets embroiled in the murky world of a football cheat; faces the dangers of crocodiles, hippos and a tiny canoe in the Okovango Delta; and investigates some violent, unexplained attacks on cattle. Meanwhile, the countdown to her upcoming wedding begins....

The stories included are: The Miracle at Speedy Motors, Tea Time for the Traditionally Built, The Seller of Beds, An Exceptionally Wicked Lady, Canoeing for Ladies, A Late Van Just Glimpsed and The Saturday Big Tent Wedding.

Great but bits of the story missing....?

This is great as normal for the Ladies but bits of the story seem to be missing; what accident? Where does the male assistant go? No lead up to the wedding and what about the wedding shoes? Also the book appears at number 4 in the app. Doesn’t detract from the lovely stories but overall the gaps are disappointing.

Delightful, Funny, Refreshing Radio Plays🎭🎤🎼

I LOVE this series, and began listening to the next installment the moment after this one ended. What a treat! All the charm of the books is captured here, and much is added as the excellent and perfectly cast voice actors bring the characters and situations to life. Production values are also excellent, and the music between chapters adds delightfully to the total experience of listening. I recommend this series wholeheartedly to any fans of the novels, and recommend Volume One as an introduction for listeners new to the gentle humor of McCall Smith’ Series.

Grade: A+
Bechdel test: Pass.

Very enjoyable full cast drama based on the books

I love this book series, and this full cast drama based on the various story lines in the books is a real treat.

The actors really make the series come to life just using their voices and someone is very talented with the background sound effects.

Of course, these short stories based on the books will not have all the details in the books, but it's a lot of fun to hear the events play out. I remember extra details from the books as the events unfold. It's a lot of fun for me.

Is this really volume 3???

According to audible, this is volume 3. BUT it seems a LOT has happened between volume 2 and 3- and the thumbnail says ‘volume 4’ which would a lot more sense.
Also, it appears a whole episode is missing from this collection.
One case has only 1 episode but it appears to be the second part only.
It seems audible has made a bit of a hash of things here.

The episodes that are there are as enjoyable as the previous volumes.

Another terrific installment

I have gotten so much enjoyment out of the radio programs. The actors are wonderful at bringing the characters to life and McCall Smith has created a lovely streamlined version of his novels. The stories are refreshing.
