Summary
The nail-biting vampire thriller from the world-famous director of Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy.
The night belongs to them, and it will be a night eternal… After the blasts, it was all over. Nuclear Winter has settled upon the earth. Except for one hour of sunlight a day, the whole world is plunged into darkness. It is a near-perfect environment for vampires. They have won. It is their time. Almost every single man, woman and child has been enslaved in vast camps across the globe. Like animals, they are farmed, harvested for the sick pleasure of the Master Race.
Almost, but not all. Somewhere out there, hiding for their lives, is a desperate network of free humans, continue the seemingly hopeless resistance. Everyday people, with no other options – among them Dr Ephraim Goodweather, his son Zack, the veteran exterminator Vassily, and former gangbanger Gus.
To be free, they need a miracle, they need divine intervention. But Salvation can be a twisted game – one in which they may be played like pawns in a battle of Good and Evil. And at what cost?

Enjoyable journey with an odd destination
The Strain has a very interesting premise but the move away from a biological cause left me a little cold

Superb ending to the trilogy. Recommended.

Sad to see the Trilogy concluded
For the first time, since starting my audible account this year, I found myself impatiently waiting for a title to be released. I discovered Guillermo del Toro's "Strain" trilogy by accident on here, but became hooked straight away. Yes, I have seen critisism of the post Ron Pearlman narration, but to be honest, I think Daniel Oreskes handles the story just as well. The first two installments were very much a story of the Vampire's mysterious plan, falling into place, piece by piece, culminating in a bleak Evil utopia. But, the night eternal depicts the fight back. Action packed, and superbly written, this final part of the trilogy, unites the protaganists once again in a monumental, ever more determined, "kick ass" struggle with the "Master". Loved every minute of it, despite being sad that it had to end. A brilliant Novel / Audiobook.

awesome
final part of the strain trilogy. for fans of the tv series and who liked it you'll be disappointed. the book goes in an entirely different direction. personally i thought the book was much more accomplished, and far more enjoyable.

A Fitting End...
To a great trilogy. By the end of the three books, I was 'reading' more and more slowly, listening to smaller and smaller sections each time, desperately not wanting it to end ... Will definitely return to this series again for a third reading. It's that good !

Vampire Trilogy
What can I say. An amazing set of books read by great narrators. I have watched the TV series which was an excellent portrayal of the books, albeit different character development and story line, and enjoyed it immensely. I have always been more of a book fan for the range and diversity that can be explored and the fact it is personal to the reader. The scenes and characters are yours and yours alone. I have read the books as audio on walks and had the most enjoyable step count. I was gripped from the first to the last page and loved all of it. I highly recommend this for an alternative view of who is top of the food chain, so to speak, and how both sides handle it. To be quite honest it would serve us right! Read, heed and enjoy. I did.

Supurb conclusion
A fantastic conclusion to a really great trilogy. no punches are pulled with this and the action ramps up in a great way. The narrator is top draw and compliments a great story. I loved every minute of this trilogy and would highly recommend all three books.

Highly enjoyable
Great end to the trilogy.
Complex characters. Believable scenarios in an unbelievable plot.

I did enjoy this, but have to say I prefer the direction the tv show went with the story. still worthy of 5*s though!
