Summary

Escape or die trying....

Number one international best seller Jeffery Deaver returns with a stunning new thriller - the first in an exciting series featuring enigmatic investigator Colter Shaw.

A killer is changing the rules. One murder at a time....

You wake up all alone, in the middle of a forest, miles from anywhere. Beside you lie five objects - a lighter, grease, picture-frame wire, a piece of silk, a bottle of water - which you will need to use if you want to survive. You’ve been taken by the Whispering Man, and there is no escape. He makes the rules, and nobody ever gets out alive.

Enigmatic investigator Colter Shaw is fighting to stop the murders. But another victim has been snatched from her family, and he’s running out of time.

In the darkest corner of Silicon Valley, a new breed of killer is emerging: someone with a deadly obsession, whose twisted game is spiralling out of control.

Critic reviews

"The Never Game is the very definition of a page-turner." (Ian Rankin)

"Terrific writing, vivid and raw, Deaver grips from the very first line and never lets up. He is, hands-down, one of the finest thriller writers of our time." (Peter James)

"As always, Deaver gets you in his stealthy grip on page one, and then takes you on a wild and inventive ride...this time with new star character Colter Shaw. No one in the world does this kind of thing better than Deaver." (Lee Child)

Confusing

I have twice tried to start this book, this time I got 1/3 of the way through, I have no idea what is going on, the story is all over the place and I have got to the stage of wanting to find some paint that I can watch drying, just so that I can have some excitement in my life!
I don't give a fig about the main character, he seems a cocky and very odd chap! I have really had enough.

I have enjoyed many of Jeffery Deaver's books, but this one is making me lose the will to live!

Clever story

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. I’ve got bored with Lincoln Rhyme, I think Mr Deaver has written himself into a corner there. I liked some of the characters, which is rare these days, and was actually interested in the main story, although it was a bit predictable. The sub-story is really interesting though. Hope there’s not another year to wait until the next one! Really excellent narration as well.
