Özet

Brought to you by Penguin.

Following the success of Rees's best-selling Auschwitz, this substantially revised and updated edition of The Nazis - A Warning from History tells the powerfully gripping story of the rise and fall of the Third Reich.

During a 16-year period, acclaimed author and documentary-maker Laurence Rees met and interviewed a large number of former Nazis, and his unique insights into the Nazi psyche and World War II received enormous praise.

At the heart of the book lie compelling eyewitness accounts of life under Adolf Hitler, spoken through the words of those who experienced the Nazi regime at every level of society. An extensive new section on the Nazi/Soviet war (previously published in Rees' War of the Century) provides a chilling insight into Nazi mentality during the most bloody conflict in history.

Described as one of the greatest documentary series of all times The Nazis - A Warning from History won a host of awards, including a BAFTA and an International Documentary Award.

I don't understand how this book collects any bad reviews at all as it is absolutely fantastic to listen to as an audiobook and really helps send the image home of Nazi life and beliefs.

Sombre yet enticing.

and informative book from start to finish especially how it covered the subject by the chapters. The narrator was very good.

Picked this up partly because I know the narrator is great.

It covers some of the aspects pf society and beliefs that the Nazis seized on rather than created and interviews many surviving people on both German and Russian sides. Some surprising information that I wasn't aware of, most books don't do interviews quite so much and don't cover less mainstream data.

I would listen to this again. OK its a niche area of study, not everyone likes studying the nazis but its useful for any student of German history or 2nd world war history.

Try it.

Interesting interviews

I have read many books by Laurence Rees but this one is a must. To think the events here happened less than 100 years ago is a chilling reminder of what happens when populism and nationalism become common politics. This is surely a must read for schools the world over, for if we fail to learn we are doomed to repeat.

Astounding and sad
