About this listen

It’s one year later, and a lot has changed.

Audiobook superfan Vera is “in the industry” now, and Cameron is not so sure he’s onboard. Jennifer has rocketed to narrator fame, but not everyone is comfortable with her newfound status. Neil and Georgia are happily married, but their HEA is wreaking havoc on her writing career. With the Audie Awards just around the corner, all these tensions are higher than ever. But you know who’s feeling just fine?

The Narwhal. Because the Narwhal...is in love.

You know when you need a good laugh that you can count on Erin Mallon. Could it be funnier than the first book? I think it just might be. This audio play brings us back to our good friends in the studio and lets us live in a day in the life of a group of authors and narrators. This quirky bunch plays out all the things we think they would be as listeners! The banter, the eccentricities, the writer's block, their own relationships, each making me laugh and just lighting up my day. With a cast of characters that seem to be written for the amazing cast of narrators, it could not be a better way to start my week. Add in the sound effects and stage direction, we are treated to a play in our minds and it's nothing short of pure magic.

Enjoy Erin's amazing story with Joe Arden, Andi Arndt, Shane East, Tanya Eby, Teddy Hamilton, Erin Mallon, Maxine Mitchell, Emma Wilder. I don't even have to comment about their performances, their names tell it all. Amazing, funny, heartfelt, quirky, you name it, this cast nails it! I am definitely looking forward to hearing more from these characters!

With this unexpected second play, the author delves a little more into the audiobook industry. From the difficulties of working from home to the discussion over pseudonymes, she reveals the internal cogs of the machine.

But she also knows how to exploits her colorful characters and we learn a bit more about their personal life, especially their love life–love is definitely at the center of this book. Their conversations are alternately hilarious and deeply emotional.

The narrators of the first play come back, with the addition of two female narrators–including the author herself–for two new characters. They’re once again amazing. The immersion is helped with a great sound design. Who needs eyes when you can see a play just with sounds?
