Summary

Recently, there had been some strange goings on at Styles St Mary. Evelyn, constant companion to old Mrs Inglethorp, had stormed out of the house muttering something about "a lot of sharks". And with her, something indefinable had gone from the atmosphere. Her presence had spelt security; now the air seemed rife with suspicion and impending evil.

Good opener

This must be one of the few Agatha Christie books I'm not overly familiar with. Story was fine, introduced the reader/listener to Poirot and Hastings and how they knew each other. Did like it was narrated by the same actor who played Hastings; Hugh Fraser, that made it sound like a proper Poirot story.

Not bad, but one of her best

Where does The Mysterious Affair at Styles rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I enjoyed the book and loved the introduction to Poirot

Have you listened to any of Hugh Fraser’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Reads the book superbly, can't fault his performance

A Classy Murder

Totally brilliant - the story of course is what we would expect from a queen of murder stories, and an excellent introduction to the world of Agatha Christie - but, Hugh Fraser is fantastic at bringing the story to life in audio form - multiple characters, brilliantly voiced - the story is full of pace, excellently voiced - he truly makes this audiobook - and on the back of this I will continue to buy more Agatha Christie stories that are performed by Mr Fraser. You really cannot go wrong with this. Very pleased.

Old Favourites

I started reading Agatha Christie over 40 years ago, still enjoy them as much today, particularly in this format.

Pretty good

Good story and twist but, too reliant on keeping things from the reader. Couldn’t really participate in the detecting :(

Another brilliant listen !

This is a great story - one of A C’s best I think ! I love Hugh Frazer’s narration - I smile and laugh out load as well being kept guessing to who commented the murder - love it !

One of the best

Loved the story and the characters. Hugh Fraser is a fantastic reader as usual. I was hooked from the beginning and didn't guess the ending at all!

Exceptional

The story is so well told by Hugh Fraser, the actor who plays Hastings in the ITV Poirot show. The pace and rhythm of the storytelling is wonderful, so easy to keep up with what is transpiring.
This audible has kept me sane as I potter about the house - on to the next Poirot adventure!
