Appalling performance

One of Agatha Christie's best stories this has not been available on Audible for some time so I was delighted when this new recording became available. I purchased it straight away and began listening. I managed about 10 minutes! The narrator made no attempt to distinguish between the characters reading in an affected drawl that grated on the nerves. His voice was monotonic and unpleasant to listen to. As if that wasn't off putting enough the constant cacophony (I think it was supposed to be music!) in the background was repetitious and quite aggravating. The only good thing to say about it was it did drown out the narration to a degree! Over the many years I've been listening to audio books I've heard some very poor performances but this is the worst ever.

It's a shame because the story is a clever and well devised one and deserves a top-class narrator and does not require music to bolster it. Come on Audible, let's have a recording of this excellent book it warrants.

Brutal murder of a beautiful book

impossible to listen to this reader. As a recommendation that was sent by Audible I instantly ordered and upon hearing the first line instantly regretted. imagine Donald Trump reading over synth lift music. Just not my cup of tea.

Terrible

This is the worst narration I have ever heard. Do not purchase this. The story is worth while but chose a different version.

Dire! Just awful!

A great book ruined by dreadful narration, poor sound and god-awful, totally unnecessary background music. I'm returning it for a refund.

Awful narration and performance!

Appalling production and narration let down this wonderful and well known story. Very unworthy of audible.

Sorry but couldn’t get past first 10 mins

Just found the narration and the background music awful. Couldn’t listen. Just felt so far off the mark for what is a great story. Nothing personal Mr Brown - just didn’t feel right for this story

Appalling

An Agatha Christie fan since the age of 12 I could not believe that an Audible version could be so bad that I had to shut it down and request a refund after 5 minutes. The American voiced narration is horrendous and made even more so by the peculiar, accompanying music. Do not buy this book!!

Very poor

I found this audiobook very hard to listen to. The background music was to loud and a great distraction and the readers voice just one tone. Unable to complete the book .

Drum Track

Was English the narrator’s second language? Who puts a drum track down on an audible book. This was possibly the worst performance I have ever endured...all 3 minutes that I listened.
