To some, it’s inspiration. To others, it’s a parasite.
For decades, horror legend Jack Court has dominated the bestseller lists with a grisly secret: a symbiotic creature lives within him, trading masterpiece prose for fresh blood. Jack has spent a lifetime evading a suspicious local sheriff, but his luck finally runs out on a rain-slicked highway.
When a brutal car crash leaves Jack’s body broken, his "Muse" doesn't die—it migrates.
Harry Godwine is a failed writer staring down a dead end. When a sudden, jagged burst of dark inspiration strikes, his career finally catches fire. But the talent isn't free. It comes with a haunting internal voice and a ravenous, growing hunger for violence.
Now, as an FBI agent and a sheriff with an eye for revenge close in, a desperate Jack Court is hunting Harry down. But Jack is no longer just a man; he is devolving into a semi-human nightmare, shedding his humanity to reclaim his passenger.
As the two writers collide, Harry faces a soul-crushing choice: is he willing to become a monster to keep his fame, or will he let the Muse drag him into the same bloody hell that claimed Jack Court?
