In the brooding north country hills, a man and a woman fought for the passion they felt for each other that the world branded a disgrace. . .

Agnes Thorman - the proud but forlorn mistress of a once-grand estate, whose society forbade her the man who was her equal in all but name. . .

Robert Bradley - a gifted craftsman, as visionary and challenging as the dawning new age. He had yet to seize his dream, which could destroy the woman he loved. . .

And Milicent Thorman - the strange, wise girl-child fated to play a part in the lovers' unfolding destiny. . .

What a marvellous piece of writing by Catherine Cookson! Also wonderfully narrated by Ann Dover who puts a wealth of meaning into the written words. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book and was so sorry when it ended…….

I liked everything. I always enjoy Catherine Cookson’s books I find them “wholesome” and happy endings delightful. As I often read crime or thrillers it’s nice to have a little light relief.

Loved all the characters, even the horrible ones!

I love catherine cookson but not all of her books. this is one of my top 10 and top of that 10. It's a great story, not all sugar happy ever after and a different slant on people and disability. Wont say more except you will not regret a credit or the money on this particular one.

One of Catherunes Top 5

Loved this Catherine Cookson book, The Moth, when I read the physical book many years ago and it has improved with the wonderful narration by Anne Dover. Looking forward to the next Catherine Cookson audible book.
