A collection of short... stories by W W Jacobs. Serpents, skinflints, skivers, suitors and sundry sailors take the foreground in these stories about the East End of London and the mythical village of Claybury at the turn of the century. Love the author lover the narrator

Love the narrator I’ll always pick him to read a story of theirs a choice of readers…. Peter Joyce is very clever at doing all kinds of voices from richest to the poorest and everything in between and all kinds accents from all over the world snd he remembers who is who …. Marvellous !!!! He understands the story and acts it out as reading so it goes to make a thoroughly enjoyable listen!!!
