Summary
A step-by-step system for mastering trading psychology.
Think about your most costly and recurring trading mistakes. Chances are that they're related to common errors, such as chasing price, cutting winners short, forcing mediocre trades, and overtrading. You've likely tried to fix these errors by improving your technical skills, and yet they persist. That's because the real source of these mistakes is not technical - they actually stem from greed, fear, anger, or problems with confidence and discipline.
If you are like most traders, you probably overlook or misunderstand mental and emotional obstacles. Or worse, you might think you know how to manage them, but you don't, and end up losing control at the worst possible time. You're leaving too much money on the table, which will either prevent you from being profitable or realizing your potential.
While many trading psychology books offer sound advice, they don't show you how to do the necessary work. That's why you haven't solved the problems hurting your performance. With straight talk and practical solutions, Jared Tendler brings a new voice to trading psychology. In The Mental Game of Trading, he busts myths about emotions, greed, and discipline, and shows you how to look past the obvious to identify the real reasons you're struggling.
This book is different from anything else on the market. You'll get a step-by-step system for discovering the cause of your problems and eliminating them once and for all. And through real stories of traders from around the world who have successfully used Tendler's system, you'll learn how to tackle your problems, improve your day-to-day performance, and increase your profits.
Whether you're an independent or institutional trader, and regardless of whether you trade equities, forex, or cryptocurrencies, you can use this system to improve your decision-making and execution. Finally, you have a way to reach your potential as a trader. Now's the time to make it happen.

Fantastic book if you use it.
Just like most self-help or learning tools, you have to put the work in to get the benefit.
Although it may sound long, I’d suggesting listening once through from start to finish and identify all of the “work” you have to do and make a list of what order to do it in.
Once you’ve done the work (A-C game, mental hand histories etc.) then go through the book again and implement the corrections and changes to improve your day to day trading as they relate to the work you’ve already done.
Also; there are worksheets and templates in Jared’s website, which are literally not mentioned until the last line of the book… 😒
Don’t be disillusioned, the work you will have to do as outlined in this book to improve your trading will take several months. If you’re looking for a “quick fix” you’ll be disappointed.

The Game Changer
It’s clear very early on into the book that Jared has done a lot to get this point in producing such a well put together book for us traders. Be in no doubt that he’ll have your flaws made clear to you, plus a bunch of other flaws you might now have expected too. Though I am only beginning to implement the strategies he has outlined, it’s again pretty clear to me that this is the way forward, and that any failure to make progress will be all on my shoulders. The truth shall set you free. Best wishes to all of us.

Why the foul language?
can't the author write a book without expletives? has he tried to imitate the wolf of wall street?

nothing really substantial
the book is ok, not much in there that I could apply. A lot of what the author says is basic common sense

Good Book!
Its a really good book and a fun listen. It delivers on helping you improve, which is what I had hoped I would get! I wish there was more to it though, feels like an extra 50% of more examples, discipline problems tackled and deeper digging with some repetitives would make it feel complete!

Find Zen
When I first listened to this I thought it didn't really say much and seemed a bit repetative but on my second listen I realise I will be listening to this many more times. It's subtle but highlights alot of habits and biases that can either help or harm. As with all great trading books many of the lessons are good for life in general as well as trading.

Required Reading
If you only buy one book on the mental aspects of trading make it this one. Mr. Tendler has created a masterpiece. He provides example after example of the problems plaguing every trader, as well as the requisite solutions. If you can’t afford a Trading Psychologist, this book is an excellent stop gap helping to take your trading to the next level.
My only criticism is the needless swearing. A strong argument doesn’t need an F-bomb to illustrate its effectiveness. I suppose the target audience does a lot of swearing, but I am biased toward cleaner language in most situations outside of a bowling ball being dropped on my foot. It’s the times we live in, I suppose.
Some may not enjoy authors reading their own work, but I insist regardless of skill level (for nonfiction). It helps make the book move real rather than simply a performance.
Excellent book. I will definitely read it again and again.

Finally, a Trading Psychology Expert Gets Me
I could tell within the first couple of chapters that Jared truly understands traders and what mental mistakes we make. He understands that we often make the same mistakes over and over, even though we know better. And, he expertly takes us through the journey and process of fixing the deep mental errors and learned thinking flaws that cause the mistakes to recur. I love this book.

Required reading if you're serious about trading
Most reference Elder, Douglas and the like but trading psychology needed an update it didn't know it needed. After reading this you'll realize why most of those other books don't really get to the heart of the psychological/emotional aspect of your trading.
Jared's is one of the only practical and actionable books in the field.
This isn't one that you will (or really should) digest in one read.
It's one that will be re-read and implemented for many years.
Extremely relatable trading examples. Really eye-opening when reviewing your decision making processes.

Game changing!
Totally makes you rethink your mental approach to trading. Eye opening advice that rebuilt the foundation of my trading strategy, allowing me to be in control. Not my emotions.

Fantastic book
I only recently started investing about 5 months ago at the ripe age of 35, and I’m trying to learn as much as possible. One thing I’ve learned is that there’s a difference between investing and trading, and I’m definitely an investor, so I’m not the target audience for this book. With that being said, I absolutely loved the book and am really glad that I read it. I stumbled across Jared Tendler on Twitter, and I love learning about the psychology and behavioral economics of how we make decisions, so I gave this book a chance. Not only does this book provide a ton of value for traders, but every investor can benefit from this too. I jumped into the market in February 2021, and it’s all been awful since then, and this book really helped put some things into perspective. What’s awesome about this book is that it provides practical advice for everyone when it comes to managing your emotions and making better decisions overall. So, no matter who you are, I really think you should check out this book or one of the others from Tendler.

Book is instructions on how to do the work!
it is only for me to do the work. I never thought of having to train my mental health. But I see the point. I did lift weights some years. I did think through what I was going to do in my training before I started (mental preparation). I don't think that I would have gotten as strong as I were by only read about what muscle I had either.. Which is basically what I have done after trading psychology books before. (That said, I have books with suggestions for exercising different stuff, but not like this. By using the same methodology for all your flaws. (well same"system").
The people giving this 1, don't have any clue. Like, wow. It was about psychology.. Wtf!!
The major point is the practical approach! It takes time and sometimes not. Depends on your root cause regarding the different problems. Maybe you have few, maybe more. However, always room for improvement!!
I actually are one of those mentioned in the book, which got good grades compared to peers without having to itch myself. So this is my first problem to overcome. However when it comes to trading I actually do the work. Need to adjust some procrastination tho. I will start with that next week!

It's time for this book. (System)
I just finished my first pass through. As I start my second pass I will be able to identify what direction the author is taking me. The system in this book is part if the holy grail in trading. Without a proper trading plan it would be close to impossible to trade successfully, this book is part of that plan. It's a must read and a must practice system. Thank you Jared!!!
