The Mediterranean diet has been considered by many doctors, researchers and experts to be a very healthy diet compared to other diets because of the simple fact that it only restricts processed foods as well as sugary foods and drinks. A lot of foods nowadays are toxic because of the synthetic chemicals present in them. When you're attempting to eat healthier by following the Mediterranean diet, you are less likely to get these toxins into your body. What is great about the Mediterranean diet is that it requires you to eat whole natural foods. So, the more whole natural foods you eat the less likely you are to get toxins to enter your body. Consider your protein sources. Good protein sources for the Mediterranean diet are salmon, tuna, sardines, legumes such as lentils, chickpeas and even chicken or eggs (eat occasionally) are a good source of protein. Keep in mind that the Mediterranean diet is a lifestyle that requires you to eat whole natural healthy foods and eliminate processed foods as well as sugary foods. Looking for a diet, a healthy diet and diet that is sustainable is a great idea. But, if you have already started looking for diets, you might have understood that the whole process is not as easy as you think. We have all heard about the benefits of the Mediterranean diet. Sounds great but isn't it a lot of work if you don't live in the Mediterranean and happen to hate sardines? I must admit that I try to follow this but fall down because I have never heard that chocolate or bacon is allowed! So I have a rather monotonous version of grilled salmon/ sweet potatoes/ asparagus and a spinach salad/ tomato and olive oil several times a week and feel guilty the rest of the time. Well this mentions a lot more options than i realized were available. The greens are all explained and recipes are included. The emphasis is on whole grains which I find much more tasty and it is not just in bread but pasta and rice and whole grain recipes that I have tried. I think the reason that I feel more satisfied when i eat this way is that the portions are very filling and my sweet cravings are answered with the fruit and natural sweeteners like honey and yes, there are recipes! Another benefit is that these recipes are not time consuming so you can spend time socializing over that glass of red wine while you enjoy your healthy meal!

I was extremely surprised by the value of this book for the price! I was just expecting a cookbook with a couple of weeks worth of meals but no.. it explains the what, why and how of the Mediterranean diet! There are a lot of recipes for every meal, including the Mediterranean Diet for Beginners! These are also all perfect for people who like to meal prep

The saying that you ‘are what you eat’ is literally true and when you eat any meal, your body will break it down into certain parts and then reassemble those parts in order to build muscle, create enzymes and hormones and even produce neurotransmitters (the chemicals that make our brain work).

If we are willing to consider the fact that our selfperceptions are flawed, we can take the necessary steps toward healing those broken pieces of ourselves that make us stop believing we are worthy of being taken care of.

This is especially important if you are attempting to survive on a diet of processed foods and highly sugary beverages that make it almost impossible to lose weight.
