Guy is about to finish writing his breakthrough online article. He overheard the story by chance in a pub and it’s guaranteed to go viral - all he needs to do is persuade the World’s Unluckiest Man to talk to him. His best friend Larry’s quest for killer clickbait material has led him to a recently appeared shanty town in Glasgow, where he finds some kind of urban voodoo cult. Nobody knew where it came from. Nobody knew why it came. When an eight-foot-tall man made of stone appears in the middle of a busy city center one July afternoon, two-bit (and antisocial) reporter Andy Pointer assumes it's just a publicity stunt. Indeed, so does everyone else...until the Stone Man begins to walk, heading silently through the wall of the nearest building, flattening it, and killing several people inside as a result.

Story
The afterlife doesn't come with a manual. In fact, Hart and Bowler (two ordinary but dead men) have had to work out the rules of their new existence for themselves. It's that fact (along with being unable to leave the boundaries of their city center, unable to communicate with the other lost souls, unable to rest in case The Beast catches up with them) that makes getting out of their situation a priority. But Hart and Bowler don't know why they're there in the first place; if they ever want to leave, they will have to find all the answers to be able to understand the physics of the dead.

Again a triumph!
What I absolutely love about this author is that he surprises me every time with the wonderful relationships between his characters and the vulnerability and fragility they portray. His ideas are very fresh and progressive, he looks at the world in an almost abstract upside down way, especially at ethical dilemmas! He is an intelligent guy and his voice could melt 🍯 honey! He’s not too bad at narrating although as he has such a soothing voice took me a week to listen to the book as I kept being lulled off to sleep by the melodious timbre of his voice! I’m hoping to see one of his novels go to the big screen. Loved this. Thanks 😊 and keep
Up the good work. Xx 💋

Smitty's stories make you think, love that!
I've been a Smithereen since The Stone Man (and believe me, I went on to read Physics of the Dead straight away after, having been very much intrigued by Luke's writing style) and have eagerly awaited every book release he's had. I know he's had a lot going on the past few years (as have I, so I could definitely relate). I really looked forward to his latest release, and bought it, but was unable to read it simply because I just had too many orders to work on. Needless to say I was overjoyed when his Audible narration was released so quickly. I love it when authors read their own books because you hear their inflection (I don't know about you, but sometimes I think some narrators get the intended inflection wrong.... I could be wrong on that, but I don't think I am). Anyway, short story LONG this story is incredible! I thoroughly enjoyed hearing Luke read it to me as I worked on orders, and it was so good I fully intend to actually read it once my busy schedule allows for reading time (I usually only listen to non-fiction or self-improvement type books, and save fiction for savoring - reading every single word).

Time travel with its heart and soul intact
It's a story about time travel that doesn't go in a direction you'd think. It has a lot of heart, a lot of mystery, and a lot of cool ideas. Despite its short length,
I think you should give it a listen because, unlike most authors who narrate their own books, Smitherd's voice does a fantastic job breathing life into the story.

Can't go wrong with Luke Smitherd
I enjoyed this story and don't regret the purchase. Honestly the story was probably 3 stars but the afterword earns five stars. I have read several books by Mr. Smitherd and have yet to be disappointed. He does a great job with narration also.
