Really loved this book. The characters are so well developed and their personalities really come through. Joyce is a delight, she really makes me laugh. A good mystery with twists and turns but light and easy to listen to. Lesley Manville does a wonderful job.

There’s a lot more going on than your average crime fiction novel. I see that some reviews find the subplot wittering annoying. Listen, if you’ve read the first book then you know what’s coming.
A charming and disarming story with all your favourite characters from book 1. I loved it and can’t wait for the next one.

It was great fun finishing The Thursday Murder Club and jumping straight back in to the world of Joyce, Elizabeth and the gang. The characterisation is developed further as you would hope, especially that of Ibrahim who has his challenges in this second book. The contrast between the two ladies (as that's what they definitely are) is beautifully portrayed and both hold their own majestically through the twists and turns of the plot...Joyce is becoming an excellent spy in her own right! There are many laugh out loud moments with some lovely turns of phrase..."one shouldn't honk at the mafia" will stay with me. Lesley Manville is a great asset to this audiobook as she was in the previous one. Her portrayal of all the characters is entertaining and she makes for a compelling narrator. Over to you Richard to crack on with Book 3 as I'm more than a little keen to see where this quartet are headed. Highly recommended but do read the first novel prior to starting this one.

Another fabulous outing from the Thursday Murder Club! Refreshingly unbiased and complicated enough - I couldn’t put it down and am now disappointed I’ve reached the end!! I’m going to listen to the first book again so that I can spend more time with these great characters. I feel that this is just how books should be written - no discrimination at all, of any kind, but it’s as if it’s normal - not being shoved at you like soo many PC things are. It’s brilliant writing.

If these books are not turned to film and join the classic Christmas whodunit movies and the staple Sunday night crime drama then that will be the real crime.

Well written, a great follow-on from book one, expands the characters well and a good exciting plot with a few twists and turns.

Extremely entertaining!

The narration by Lesley Manville really brought the story and characters to life.

Will be listening again very soon.
