About this listen

Another entry in this popular range of fantastical dramas from the BBC archive. This production of The Lost World, based on the novel by Arthur Conan Doyle, was first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 1975, and amongst the cast are Francis de Wolff, Gerald Harper, Carol Boyd and the renowned radio actor Carleton Hobbs.

The story follows a 19th century expedition to enter the rumoured lair of animals thought to have died out millions of years before - a terrifying world of pterodactyls and other 'prehistoric monsters'.

As a fan of classic monster/dinosaur movies, I really enjoyed this audio performance and look forward to more like it.

Great performances, decent sound effects and a brilliant story make this a highly entertaining listen. I used to love listening to a ladybird audio book of The Lost World when I was a child, so I enjoyed a sense of nostaligia when I listened to this performance.

Enjoy the professors and primordial fauna. If only mammoths and virtuous she-adventurers were feature.
