Isaiah Coleridge is a mob enforcer in Alaska - he's tough, seen a lot, and dished out more. But when he forcibly ends the money-making scheme of a made man, he gets in the kind of trouble that can lead to a bullet behind the ear. Saved by the grace of his boss and exiled to upstate New York, Isaiah begins a new life, a quiet life without gunshots or explosions. Except a teenage girl disappears, and Isaiah isn't one to let that slip by. And delving into the underworld to track this missing girl will get him exactly the kind of notice he was warned to avoid.

Ringing hollow.
I used to love Dean's books. In the 90s he was a master of creating paranormal suspense from purely natural means. In the 00s he started to tinge more books with supernatural elements, but the thrills still came from his ability to write believable people and breathtakingly real psychosis. This story falls well flat of that.
This story feels so ungrounded in reality that I can't connect with it. I didn't have that problem with Season 1, so I'm assuming it's a problem with this particular episode. It felt like I had no understanding of the villan, he was generic and bland. I think the author was trying so hard not to offend anyone's politics that he couldn't write a believable politician villan.

Great character, glad to hear more about him.
since starting Audible, I've come to enjoy short stories more than ever before. Short series, like these are even better.
I really enjoyed the first series and was disappointed when they ended.
So far this one suggests the second release is going to be just a good.

Strong Start to the Second Season
Title: The Lost Soul of the City
Author: Dean Koontz
Format: Audio
Narrator: Edoardo Ballerini
Genre: Thriller Novella, amnesia
Standalone: Yes
Part of a Series: Nameless: Season Two book 1
POV: Muliple
Steam Level: None
4/5
The Lost Soul of the City is the first book in the second season of Dean Koontz's Nameless novella series. If you read the last book in the previous season you find out who Nameless is, his history and about the organization he works for. However, because his memory has been wiped (again) this book is like starting from scratch.
The Lost Soul of the City is a fast-paced novella set in a run-down city with underground everything. Nameless teams up with an unexpected person to stop a ring of corruption. I don't want to give much away but I will say that this is a strong start to Season two and I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

Good Book and Narration
A great start to Season 2 of the nameless series. Noble yet guarded, Nameless issues have brought him to a place where he has chosen induced amnesia. Not he takes assignments to help make right what is wrong in the world, a job at a time.
