Summary

Glasgow in the 1950s. Private investigator Lennox is keeping a low profile, enjoying a secret fling with the daughter of shady bookie and greyhound breeder MacFarlane. When MacFarlane is found bludgeoned to death, Lennox is a suspect. Luckily, he has a solid gold alibi: he was in bed with the victim’s daughter.

Lennox is quickly drawn into hunting the killer. It turns out MacFarlane was into some seriously dodgy stuff. One of Glasgow’s notorious Three Kings, crime boss Willie Sneddon, is involved, and he’s not a man Lennox wants to cross. But there’s an even bigger player lurking in the shadows, and it looks like Lennox is going to get his fingers burnt - badly.

Great Narration

First class storytelling. The storyline itself was on the good side of average. Didn't quite grab me in a "don't want to put this down" kind of way.

Absolutely brilliant.

This is the second of the Lennox books and it's just terrific. The story unfolds at a gentle but engaging pace. Barrett's narration is simply wonderful. I've been impressed by his other work but his Scottish efforts are excellent. I absolutely recommend this.

One listen isn’t enough

I love the Lennox series of books.
And I’m so glad Sean Barrett is the narrator. He really brings the books to life.

What a find!

I was initially drawn to this title due to its being a deal of the day, and being narrated by Sean Barrett, who is simply brilliant.

Very early into the book, I was hooked. The combination of a highly entertaining lead, gritty supporting characters and a great story, made this a winner, for me.

I will be searching out the other titles in this series very soon.
