About this listen
The Western Front, 1916. Private Percy Blakeney wakes up. He is lying on fresh spring grass. He can hear birdsong, and the wind in the leaves in the trees. Where have the mud, blood, and blasted landscape of No Man's Land gone?
Madison, Wisconsin, 2015. Cop Monica Jansson is exploring the burned-out home of a reclusive - some said mad, others dangerous - scientist when she finds a curious gadget: a box containing some wiring, a three-way switch and a potato. It is the prototype of an invention that will change the way Mankind views his world forever. And that's an understatement if ever there was one....
The Long Earth is the first novel in an exciting new collaboration between the creator of Discworld, Terry Pratchett, and the acclaimed SF writer Stephen Baxter.

Where will it end?
If you could sum up The Long Earth in three words, what would they be?
Exciting, emotional and entertaining.
What did you like best about this story?
The dramatic changes that occurred to people as they travelled. The motivation of the individuals to move on or stay. The bonds that develop between characters.
What about Michael Fenton Stevens’s performance did you like?
I enjoyed it. He was very expressive and he enabled me to hear the difference in the characters.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me laugh and cry. Even in the Long Earth there are people trying to influence the descisions of others. I found it quite sad to realise that some people can ruin anything, anytime any place anywhere!
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed the concept and looked forward to the second in the series. Terry Pratchett has developed another new world which I think will become as popular as Discworld.

Quirky. nice pace.
Lobsang makes an appearance away from the Discworld. Only wish Vimes could've made it. The multiverse gets a great old airing....

Great idea but lacks character
The idea of mail@graemehurry.com easily attained other Earths is s great concept to extrapolate with. Unfortunately I felt the scope Baxter tried to detail failed to give us characters to care about. Although there are many refreshing ideas the story failed to fully resonate the human experience this situation would invoke. I'd probably prefer a slower build up.

Bit disappointing
Love Terry Pratchett, but not sure where he was going with this book. I have to confess to feeling somewhat confused as to what this was actually about. So, sorry Terry, not a fan of this one x
