About this listen

In the depths of winter, a killer stalks the city streets. His victims are two young women, both found with twenty-four inexplicable puncture wounds, both drowned in their own blood. The crime scenes offer no clues, the media is reaching fever pitch, and the police are running out of options. There is only one man who can help them, and he doesn't want to be found.

Deeply traumatised by The Snowman investigation, which threatened the lives of those he holds most dear, Inspector Harry Hole has lost himself in the squalor of Hong Kong's opium dens. But with his father seriously ill in hospital, Harry reluctantly agrees to return to Oslo. He has no intention of working on the case, but his instinct takes over when a third victim is found brutally murdered in a city park.

The victims appear completely unconnected to one another, but it's not long before Harry makes a discovery: the women all spent the night in an isolated mountain hostel. And someone is picking off the guests one by one.

A heart-stopping thriller from the bestselling author of the The Snowman, The Leopard is an international phenomenon that will grip you until the final page.

Another well narrated story from the incredible wordsmith. Never dull or cliché, Jo Nesbo never fails to surprise and delight.

Superb

This story, as well as other Jo Nesbo`s books about Harry Hole, will become your obsession. Firstly the figure of the detective is so much realistic. He will become very close to you. I do not like smokers but Harry Hole is an exception, I am very critical to alcoholics but his dedication to Jim Beam is ok for me. It is the way how Jo Nesbo is able to provide the story and OF COURSE the incredibly good interpretation of Sean Barrett. Voice in my head that makes me listening and listening.

Jo Nesbo and Sean Barret / very good combintion

If you could sum up The Leopard: A Harry Hole Thriller, Book 8 in three words, what would they be?

My favourite Harry novel so far, tense, dark, gripping - a real page turner

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Leopard: A Harry Hole Thriller, Book 8?

Its always difficult to give a best moment without spoiling the plot. As it goes there are a lot of memorable moments to choose from.

What does Sean Barrett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I really couldn't bring life to each character like Sean Barrett does, Id be too busy trying (and failing) pronounce the names and places - in short, Barrett IS Harry!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It took me two days!

Harry at his best

Just when you think Nesbo can't surprise you again, bang.
The translation, including interpretation of the different dialects from Norway to England is intelligent and masterful. Sean Barrett is awesome!

A roller coaster

May I state at the outset that I am a huge Jo Nesbo fan, so an objective view will not be easy but I will do my best. This is the book that has had to follow the hugely successful The Snowman.
Once again we are trransported into the complex and dark world of Oslo detective Harry Hole, for anyone new to this series of novels I would urge you to go back to the first of the books available on Audible The Redbreast.
If you like your crime fiction served up in a dark gritty style, plenty of twists and turns and gruesome murders then the Leopard is definately for you. In his books Nesbo is able to delve into a world that we only come accross in our nightmares, and Nesbo has created a character in Harry Hole that we can all identify with because he has so many of the failings that the reader comes accross in their daily lives.
The plot is tight, the pace leaves you breathless, the narative is vivid and the characters wonderfully brought to life by Nesbo.
Narrated as usual by Sean Barrett, who brings an extra dimension to the book with his great interpretation and characterization of Nesbo's creations.
I can not recommend this book highly enough, but as I stated at the outset I am a little biased.

Simply Superb.
