Lavender farmer Luc Bonet is raised by a wealthy Jewish family in the foothills of the French Alps. When the Second World War breaks out he joins the French Resistance, leaving behind his family's fortune, their home overrun by soldiers, their lavender fields in disarray. Lisette Forestier is on a mission of her own: to work her way into the heart of a senior German officer – and to bring down the Reich in any way she can. What Luc and Lisette hadn't counted on was meeting each other. When they come together at the height of the Paris occupation, German traitors are plotting to change the course of history. But who, if anyone, can be trusted? As Luc and Lisette's emotions threaten to betray them, their love may prove the greatest risk of all.©2012 Fiona McIntosh (P)2016 Bolinda Publishing 20th Century Contemporary Historical Historical Fiction Kurgu Romantik Çağdaş Romantizm

I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book and once I started listening, couldn’t stop. I loved the way it started as two separate stories which then became woven into one. The narration was excellent. The pace was brilliantly kept up throughout the entire story and it left me wanting to know more. I will definitely look for more by this author.

Highly recommend!

I didn't enjoy this story, it was riddled with inaccuracies. Luc and Lisette were unrealistic as a resistance fighter and spy. Lisette especially was too obvious and clumsy, it is unimaginable she would have lasted for any length of time without her cover being blown and Luc put himself in grave danger far too often to make him a realistic character.
Real life characters such as Vera Atkins and Maurice Buckmaster were poorly written, Vera Atkins all but simpered at one point for instance.
The plot was contrived and obvious, the likelihood of Luc and Marcus's similarity farfetched.
There were glaring security breaches at every turn and resistance fighters talked openly about "D Day" even though it was a top secret code name to the last minute.
This is a easy listening romance book set during the war, it was weak in every way and I wouldn't recommend.

Disappointed
