Our universe is ruled by physics, and faster-than-light travel is not possible - until the discovery of The Flow, an extradimensional field we can access at certain points in space-time that transports us to other worlds, around other stars. Humanity flows away from Earth, into space, and in time forgets our home world and creates a new empire, the Interdependency, whose ethos requires that no one human outpost can survive without the others. Story
Mars. The red planet. A new frontier for humanity: a civilisation where humans can live in peace, lord and master of all they survey. But this isn't Space City from those old science-fiction books. It's more like Hell City, built into and from a huge crater. There's a big silk canopy over it, feeding out atmosphere as we generate it, little by little, because we can't breathe the air here. I guess it's a perfect place to live, if you want to live on Mars. At some point I must have wanted to live on Mars, because here I am.

Story
After the War of the Gods, the demons were cast out and fell to the world. Mankind was nearly eradicated by the seemingly unstoppable beasts, until the gods sent the great hero, Ramrowan, to save them. He united the tribes, gave them magic, and drove the demons into the sea. Ever since the land has belonged to man and the oceans have remained an uncrossable hell, leaving the continent of Lok isolated. It was prophesized that someday the demons would return, and only the descendants of Ramrowan would be able to defeat them. They became the first kings, and all men served those who were their only hope for survival.

Summary
The conclusion of the Amazon and Audible best-selling Halfhero series.
When The Deterrent comes out of hiding and kidnaps the titans, it triggers the biggest manhunt in history. On one side, the military might of the United States and Air Commodore Fiona Bardock, Britain’s most talented investigator. On the other, three halfheroes, one human and a puddle of slime.
Daniel Harbin hopes to get through this alive and track down the children he never knew existed. What no one realises is they’re about to confront the greatest danger of all.

Decent ending, rushed though.
It seemed a decent ending, however I'm not a fan of bringing in strange new powers in the last and shortest book to expedite the end, after the whole saga it just felt like a meh ending whimsical.

Satisfying Conclusion to a Suprisingly Good Series
This wrapped up the story in a satisfying way. It actually resolved all the loose ends, while introducing a new component that didn't feel tacked on in any way.
I really wouldn't have thought I'd be this happy after listening to a three book series about "superheroes", but here we are. Mr. Sainsbury is proving to be an author worth buying his books first, then reading the summary later. His stuff isn't high brow literature, but it doesn't try to be. This is well-written, popcorn, summer beach read type stuff. And it's free of the "groaners" I find so common in that type of book.

Outstanding narrator
I started reading everything I could find by Ian W. Sainsbury , after I found the World Walker series, so I started the Halfhero series and I want to say , I am extremely impressed with Jonathan McGarrity . He made these last 2 books in the Halfhero series much better than they would have been. He is outstanding with his dialects and voices and would love to see much more of his works . The Halfhero series Is a great read , made even better by an outstanding narrator
