Summary

Shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize 2014.

In a world where animals no longer exist, 12-year-old Kester Jaynes sometimes feels like he hardly exists, either. Locked away in a home for troubled children, he's told there's something wrong with him. So when he meets a flock of talking pigeons and a bossy cockroach, Kester thinks he's finally gone a bit mad. But the animals have something to say....

The pigeons fly Kester to a wild place where the last creatures in the land have survived. A wise stag needs Kester's help, and together they must embark on a great journey, joined along the way by an over-enthusiastic wolf cub, a spoilt show cat, a dancing harvest mouse, and a stubborn girl named Polly. The animals saved Kester Jaynes. But can Kester save the animals?

What a glorious tale

I loved this exciting book which contained everything necessary to make a good tale great. Tragedy tension and humour just to name but three. I enjoyed it so much that I immediately purchased the other two books in the series.

50000000000000000000

I would rate this 5 billion if I could. This book is for anyone who loves mystery, adventure and clifhangers.I spelt that wrong 100%.It left me crying in some places but I'm generally a very emotional person so...The first time I listened to this i found it very long but if you listen to it again it seems shorter. That was very long so I don't know why I added this part😂.
P.S. It may be a bit scary for younger children as it does have some death in it and some tiny gory details.
