This is the second book in the series - a better plot than the first in my opinion. I wonder if I’d do better reading over listening as I misplace characters who end up being quite vital in the end. A good narrator.

Not found a Mick Herron book I dont like. This narrator suits Zöe's character perfectly too. Didn't guess who the baddie was, always a bonus, I love this series - wish there were more books to it.

Brilliant story as usual from Mick Heron! Follows Zoe’s escapades whilst investigating the death of a treasured employee in suspicious circumstances! So well written and the characterisation is impeccable! I’ve read eight of Micks’ books since I discovered ‘slow horses’ and am now totally hooked! Highly recommended

Do yourself the favour of consuming the first in the series so you'll better appreciate how Zoe became a PI and her tendency to take on the cause of vulnerable and disadvantaged people. Based in Oxford, she roves far and wide in the search for others' secrets and exposing nefarious shenanigans. She enlists some helpers in facing up to what should be forces of law and order. Learning who can be trusted is a main theme and cases overlap with an unlikely one being the source of her main peril. Absorbing, well-paced and tale with twists.

Zara Ramm is an excellent voice actor and brought the characters to life, conveying appropriate emotion and mood in each scene.

Eagerly looking for more exploits from this interesting character.
