Summary

The electrifying stand-alone thriller from the author of The Last Thing to Burn and First Born.

My phone has no reception, something we've been told to expect from time to time out here, and my stomach feels uneasy. Maybe it's the motion of the waves or maybe it's the fact that Pete didn't leave a note or a text. He usually leaves a note with a heart.

I pull on jeans and a jumper and scrunch my hair on top of my head and take my key card and step out into the corridor.

Thirty seconds later it hits me.

All the other cabin doors are wedged open.

Every single one is unoccupied and unlocked.

My heart starts beating harder. I break out into a run. At the end of the long corridor I take a lift down to the Ocean Lobby.

There's nobody here.

My mouth is dry.

It's like I'm trapped on a runaway train.

No, this is worse.

The RMS Atlantica is steaming out into the ocean and I am the only person on board.

This was supposed to be the holiday of a lifetime for Cas. Now she just needs to survive.

With the drama of The Woman in Cabin 10 and the tension of And Then There Were None, The Last Passenger is a psychological thriller set aboard a cruise ship about a woman whose seemingly ordinary life is suddenly thrown dramatically off course. Will Dean is the master of intense suspense and this novel is full of his trademark twists and turns.

fabulously dark and deliciously evil, it kept me riveted the whole way through, brilliantly read.

Gripping!

Keeps you guessing, although you ‘feel’ like you know what is going on, but so you really 😉

Great story but the ending was poor.

I found myself gripped from the start and struggled to work out what was going on. Being drip fed the plot helped keep the mystery. Once it was revealed what was truly going on only added to terror. I could have believed it all ...until the end but I'm afraid the closing text had me saying "REALLY 😩?!!" Too far fetched and ridiculous. But worth a listen as that is just my opinion, and it's well narrated.

The tension all the way through.

Loved the book from beginning to end usual tense and well written, gripping story I’ve come to expect from Will Dean. The narrator was excellent too .Highly recommend

Another Great TikTok Find!

I bought this book after following Marc Sebastian on The Ultimate World Cruise doing a book club with this book on TikTok. I really enjoyed the story and it kept me guessing right until the end, then even after that... I'll never cruise again without thinking about this book.

It felt like a mash up of US Big Brother / Hunger Games and I'm here for that!!!

Initially intriguing and exciting then annoying

Writing a review without spoilers is tough so I will keep it vague.
The concept was thrilling, intriguing and fascinating,
I wish there had not been kennels onboard as I found this stressful and generally the people very annoying and the author not well versed on the subject. No idea why this was included as an element as I gave up before finding out.
I found the protagonist and constant exploration of her backstory and narration of the character like nails down a chalk board level of irritating. i would have thrown her overboard after the first 5 minutes of drivelling on about her life in her cafe plus issues with her father and family.
I found the first reveal ridiculous and though it was thought provoking as a concept and I did wonder how a few things would be explained, it was just so silly and the situation so easy for the authorities to rectify I just gave up - ditto the financial element as just selling their story would have made them all rich so a mute incentive.
Found all of the characters unlikable, and while the the protagonist was a real pain the others were just cardboard cut outs lacking any depth or interest.
Returning and disappointed after an initially good start.

Thought provoking

As someone who enjoys a holiday at sea I found a few plot holes with this book. However they were not enough to detract to the overall production.
The narrator was good, although I would have preferred her to have used a different accent for Smith as I found the US drawl very irritating!
The implications of being Caz and what happened to her sat heavily with me and I dont think I would ever trust anyone ever again!
The basis of the book is disturbing and very credible! The makers of reality shows are culpable for screwing up peoples minds and emotions!
