About this listen

The Lakota Way received the prestigious Audie Award, considered the "Oscar" award of the audiobook industry, in 2004 for the category of best inspirational audio.

The myth of Deer Woman teaches a lesson on respect. The legend of Crazy Horse illuminates a lesson on humility. And the story of Eagle brings home the importance of compassion. These stories from the heart of Lakota culture and its survival, and their meanings, still resonate deeply with our daily lives.

Rich with storytelling, history, folklore, and Marshall's own personal experiences, The Lakota Way expresses the heart of Native American philosophy and the 12 core qualities that are crucial to the Lakota way of living: bravery, fortitude, generosity, wisdom, respect, honor, perseverance, love, humility, sacrifice, truth, and compassion.

Compelling and profound, The Lakota Way gives a fresh outlook to those searching for a new perspective on spiritual and ethical living.

Read beautifully by the author. This book lays the red road out in front of you, depicted through many powerful stories. Humans are story tellers and through stories we most easily learn lessons and absorb information. This book does just that to teach you the 12 Lakota principles. If you want to learn about Lakota way of life, if you want to learn age old principles to live in harmony with the world around you or if you simply just want to listen to a collection of beautiful and powerful short stories, this book is for you.

I am very new to native American philosophy and storytelling but not completely and had a hunch that this would be a good listen.
I was far from disappointed, this touched me SO deeply I wish I had the words to better describe.
